As I sit here in Jiffy Lube...

There seems to be a new requirement that we can’t leave the audit location until the MSC has confirmed the validity of the report. I’m trapped!

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
You’re kidding? That alone would prevent me from taking that shop....

Hard work builds character and homework is good for your soul.

They texted it to me today!
That’s stunning. I hope for your sake that this non-US MSC even has someone on staff during business hours today.
chris,
Please tell us the wording in the guidelines that you are referring to.
Also, different Jiffy Lube franchisees use different MSCs so we should not assume that we know which MSC Chris is referring to. In my tri-state region, there are at least three different MSCs shopping different Jiffy Lubes.

Their text message while I was on site: “Hi Christopher, Thank you for going through the visit at Jiffy Lube. DO NOT LEAVE the site until we have confirmed and ensured the validity of the report. You will be contacted if necessary. Reply this text if you face any difficulties. Please reply ”
So, what did you reply, since you obviously see a difficulty with the demand ?

That text was unprofessional and ethically questionable if the guidelines were silent on this requirement.
You started this topic over 3 hours ago, I sincerely hope that you still aren't at Jiffy Lube.
And, "you will be contacted if necessary" is ambiguous. How are you supposed to know you have the "all clear" and can leave?
If it's the overseas MSC, they love texting. What a nightmare, though!

Well, I told them I wasn't staying past the two-hour time allotment for the shop. Just as I was leaving, they texted me saying everything looked good. (And I was thinking, it better be, because I'm outta here!)
This MSC has been on my tail to do a Jiffy Lube audit for a few weeks now and I was already scared off by the fee-to-time ratio folks talked about here. Now I'm even more scared. Thanks for the heads-up fellow forumers!
wales, this is the audit shop, not the oil change.

After having been told I was no longer needed and never to darken their doorstep again, just a few days ago I got an email from them inviting me to sign with them to do this particular Jiffy Lube shop. At the time I thought my dismissal was due to them cleaning out those who had relationships with the schedulers they seem to have fired.. So aside from this issue which is awful, are they worth working for these days? I have not heard much about the payment and communications issues they had several years ago.
Honny,
Thank you. I had no idea, lol.

A few months ago, the payment situation was still annoyingly slow. But I try to make at least $20 an hour mystery shopping, and the $60 audit fee I got for this particular one fit the bill. Just prepare to be contacted relentlessly.
I did a shop. You use the app which is somewhat confusing. They call and text you a lot. They want pictures of your PPE including the soles of your shoes showing non-slip logo. Having said that, with the first one done, I would probably do another for the right price.
Also a tip if you take a shop. I always run over on revealed audits. My fully charged phone went to low battery in 2 hours due to app usage. I had an external charger I plugged it into in my purse. Saved me. Also save your work as you go. App does weird things and loses your pictures. When you have the manager sign in the app, hit the check mark to save it. Just using the save function in the app is not enough.
I am doing a slew of these audits. The first day was almost my last day - they called and texted me at least 15 times throughout the day. Meanwhile, I'm trying to take pictures and navigate slippery stairs in 6 degrees and blizzard conditions. At the end of the day I told them that I could not work that way and if it happened again, they could re-assign my remaining 48 locations. The next day, I got one text - saying that the pictures looked great. smiling smiley
The audits aren't bad if you negotiate a higher fee than what they initially offer, which is laughable.
