Exxon/Mobile Gasoline Shop Fees

I believe I can mention the client since I haven't mentioned the MSC.

I've been reading the other threads about the gas station shops where everyone mentions them by color/colors.

It seems like the consensus is that these should not be done for less than around $50. Am I interpreting this correctly?

Or is it the absolute minimum that should be earned for the work involved in the instance of working it into a route or it's nearby?

Maybe some folks think that's their minimum, but I haven't received a $50 fee since ... um ... maybe when CoRi had them. I'm perfectly content to pick up some for between $20 - $30 plus reimbursements. BUT, one must be careful about what one's one chooses to do.

They might be worth doing at $30-$40 if they are close to home. They take a while to debrief on Sassie. You can debrief as you go if you have good mobile data. I wouldn't go out of your way for anything less than $50.
Depends on how many pumps, I suppose. Most of the stations in the areas I shop have two pumps, while big cities/interstate travel centers may have over 20.
Definitely depends on how many pumps. Use Google street view to check it out before taking the shop. I used to do a nice little route about 90 minutes drive from my house. Between 9 - 12 locations depending on the month. I would jump at them when they hit $22 + reimbursement.
They never took me longer than 30 minutes at each one, but I haven't done one since the company was bought out.
I think only once in my life have I ever gotten $50. Some of these bonuses must be in more sparsely populated areas but in the Chicago area where there are lots of shops and even more shoppers, I rarely see those kinds of fees. I did drive to the Wisconsin border for a $37 bonus this past weekend - was dreading how many pumps a "Travel Center" would have and it turned out to be two. smiling smiley
I did one for $100 last quarter in rural Arkansas. It is with a new scheduling team this quarter.
around my area, they started to go at $30($17.50 bonus) $35 if you count the gas. once they hit $40 with gas, they really flew. if you can get a bunch in an area, and have other work you can do along the way, it’s not terrible. any less than $30, well that’s just a no go for me.

I lucked out once and did one for $65. It had to be a flake. The station had no 4 pumps and no c-store. It had a little shack where the clerk was.

The current scheduling company doesn't seem to be budging on the $30 amount. my guess is that they have received some sort of time extension that is not normal. Or maybe they're just not going to assign them all. I have no idea. there's no way they can get all of these locations done without going over $30
Very, very few get done for $50. Most are done for under $20. Good money can be made for much less than $50, depending on travel requirements. And while some take the number of pumps into consideration (I do too for local shops,) while on a route, the extra work for extra pumps is really not all that much of a consideration for me after taking everything elses into account.
It looks like they are offering 70 for some locations now. The same locations I was in two days ago and asked for more than 30 and was turned down.
Just had all of my bonused shops (5@$30+) cancelled by the client this morning.
.
They never do that. I think they just didn't want any bonuses. The shops are still up on the schedulers job board (not now). I'm familiar with the actual stations so I doubt they all canceled since most are always in good shape.

wait what? this is a first. did you get an explanation?
I'm sure it's probably because they found somebody else to do it cheaper. I don't think a mystery shopping company should be allowed to remove a shop once it's assigned. I think they should also have an agreement with the client that if a mystery Shop is assigned the shopper should still get paid even if it's canceled. That's one thing that I hate. I know it's because they found a cheaper shopper. There's no way the client with all of a sudden decide not to get several of their location shopped. I have planned routes where I actually left my house and put miles on my car just to have the shops pulled out from under me. That is bad business practice. But, because we are independent contractors, they can do whatever the heck they want. They can treat us like crap and there's nothing we can do about it other than not working for them anymore.
I have had this happen due to bad weather (and the pandemic.) I have never had them give them to another shopper. Was there a weather issue or similar where the shops were located?

I have had this happen mostly with shipping shops. Several times. I would get to my car after the shop and find the shop and a few others for the day gone. I even had one removed while I was in the middle of the report. It was blamed on the client but there was no apparent reason, such as bad weather, etc., for a cancellation. The scheduler was new on the project and there are some very intricate rotation rules so, with only a suspicion and no proof at all, I believe they were scheduling errors.

This is abuse in my opinion. They should not be able to do this. If it is assigned and you are on a route, they should have to pay.
I finished in northern colorado yesterday, but I decided to go home. I didn't want to bail them out after the way I've been treated so far this quarter.

Anybody want a loooong road trip to Wyoming? They're going for $100+ each there.
I see it differently. Not as bailing them out but making excellent money for .myself while getting the satisfaction of knowing the MSC had to loosen those tightly-gripped purse strings!

I think I need to move to WY/UT/ID!
I just finished a couple of loops of yellow/red and blue/red shops after successfully negotiating with the scheduler for yellow/red.

The minimum visits were $50, with a couple of them reaching $72.50. I did one last super remote location for $162.50 which was unmanned and only required one photo as a result.

I definitely prefer the online experience with the former MSC, but getting paid really quickly is fair trade-off in my book.

Looks like there's another wave of blue/reds currently available and the other blue/red brand has tons of the visits where you only reveal if the clerk is out of uniform.

The window for planning routes is way smaller now. I'll be looking to see what bonuses are up for end of next month when I will have a much more flexible schedule for a lengthy road trip.

Interestingly, I just found out today I've been banned from doing green/white.

I guess I’m in the minority here. We take a TON of these shops at the base fee every month (rotating between a couple of monthly local routes), and then pick up the bonuses as they come along. I mean, we’ve made just over $700 before reimbursements this week on these, and the other red/blue shops that are super simple. We’re in this to make $, and as much as possible. If I sit around and wait for shops to get bonuses, I’m wasting time. As long as I’m turning a substantial profit, I’ll take them at base, and get the bonused shops at the end of the month as well.

Yes! I'm happy to take these at base or "first" bonus while others take reimbursement only restaurant shops. smiling smiley Turning a substantial profit here as well.
The nearest gas station to me that is shopped is 45 miles away. To get a route of 7, I have to drive close to 250 miles total. I just cannot afford to take them at base!

Good for you, though!
