Found a new one to add to the 10-foot pole list:

DETAILED GUIDELINES
The purpose of these shops is to:
1. Monitor if the lot enforcement employee is making their rounds
2. Take photos of all signage
3. Take photos of the condition of the lot, if it is being maintained
4. Count the number of vehicles parked upon arrival and justify the count by taking a photo of all license plates of each vehicle
5. Confirm the app is user friendly.

This is listed 3x, once for a lot with 23 spaces, one with 38 spaces, and one with about 50 spaces.

How is one supposed to go about doing this shop taking pictures of "all license plates of each vehicle" and not be suspicious / confronted about privacy? Since you have to stay in the lot for an hour, do you have to get out and take photos of a new vehicle when it enters the lot?

Is this just a way for the lot owner(s) to see who is parking in the lot without paying?

More About Audits

Shops like this used to go to an assigned team led by an experienced team leader. They would arrive with a letter ordering that they be admitted and assisted. Clients have cut their compliance staffs to zero and are looking to make-do. This sort of audit is just not meant for less well trained MSers!

Where, exactly, are these parking lots? I hope they are public parking lots! Inquiring minds want to know. My vehicle is parked in the back lot of an apartment lot which leads to nowhere. Literally! I would report anyone for being so close to my car and my residence that they can see, let alone photograph, my license plates. Even though license plates are not a matter of privacy, and some are a matter of vanity, access to private parking spaces might be an issue. Do tell.....

They're not in apartment communities, they are for a "mixed-use" type place, situated so there can't be one big lot, it's three smaller ones. Public lots.

I saw that assignment this morning for a nearby garage (which I have shopped many times in the past for another company). The garage would typically have 300+ cars in it. There's no way, for the paltry pay, that I would photograph all of those license plates.

It's on my 10-foot pole list as well.

The people who used to do these audits were well trained and well paid. These are typically for paid parking lots and garages where cash integrity is an issue or where evasion of monthly parking fees is suspected to be rampant.

I just did one of these near the Space Needle. Luckily for me there was only 3 cars in the lot so it was nice and easy. That said, it definitely felt creepy. On the plus side, I never saw an attendant, on the negative side, the lot was super out of compliance with pricing discrepancies.

I have never seen this shop, here in Georgia. But I'm wondering can you take a "lump sum" picture of ten cars plates or does each car have to be taken individually and be perfectly legible. I should think the pay should be different for individual vs lump sum.
