Mystery shopping woes

I recently did a route of green gas stations that require unique pictures. It is not supposed to be white glove. I drove two hours each way to do the route. One shop was just sent back because they can see a handle next to the toilet in the vest pic. (probably a toilet brush). The restroom was clean. This blows me. I'm not driving four hours for a picture of a toilet brush! Not happening. It's not like I missed a canopy shot or something! I'm trying to figure out a way to talk to the editor and not offend them, make them feel like I'm telling them how to do their job, But personally, I think this is ridiculous, I mean the customer doesn't even get the vest picture. There were no bottles of cleaning supplies present just a simple toilet brush in the older.

Can you crop the photo so it does not include the toilet brush?

Its clearly a toilet brush. I always take the picture in front of the bathroom mirror of me in the vest. I would suggest that for future reference. Try one of the ipsos schedulers. This should be approved. The only reason I could see it not being approved is because you are not fully visible in picture with vest on even if you cut off your head which I think is allowed per guidelines.

Shopping Western NY, Northeast and Central PA, and parts of Ohio and West Virginia. Have car will travel anywhere if the monies right.
Curious and curiouser...

The editor already saw it. The editor sent it back. Right now all I did was supply my second vest shot and send her a letter. If this shop is not while glove and the average customer would not have a problem with it, why should we? I did not edit the photo and crop it out because the editor already sent it back to force me to give them the infraction.
I am going to try to be strictly analytical here. If the infraction is "cleaning supplies are visible", then the issue becomes whether a toilet brush is a cleaning supply or a cleaning tool. I gather that you didn't realize that the toilet brush was present or you decided it doesn't matter. Apparently, it does matter. IMHO, I would agree with the editor and submit a cropped photo of the toilet brush as proof of the infraction. I personally would not go back there to get a better photo of the toilet brush. In the worst case, I would have a mileage deduction and no fee and a learning for the next time.

I got this great response back! I'm ok with it. But I thought her heart came through because I was afraid they would try and take the shop from me.

Wow. The editor's solution was the one I proposed. Have I been doing this too long? smiling smiley

The green shops I'm referring to, do require a vest shot in 2021. The one based out of Europe. It is done on Presto.
I would explain it. Maybe that was a stick you carry in to keep the toilet door open? I do.
Wasn't the editor's response the very first suggestion to your post? And someone else's suggestion?

Maybe you like posting about the issue more than taking action?

It was the opposite. But anyway they can be finicky about two pictures looking too much alike. I guess you haven't run into that problem but when you've done as many as we have you run into all kinds of issues. There's no worse feeling than doing a long-distance out-of-town route than finding out you are missing a picture you need or they won't accept the shop for some reason (could be timing could be something else). But we have run routes all over Georgia, from Savanna to Columbus to Helen to Valdosta, We have been to the eastern part of Alabama, the panhandle of Florida, the bottom of Tennessee, and even one to Augusta on the South Carolina side. The car I'm trying to put an engine in so I can sell it to get the car note off of me, I put a hundred thousand miles on it easily within a couple of years. (I bought it at like 96,000 miles and it now has 243,000. I've had it for 3 years). But I've probably lost less than 10 shops in over three years and not all were gas stations. I think like one BP from Presto, a couple from MF but it's been a while since that's happened. But with COVID and more shoppers because of COVID and Maritz selling out, routes aren't making as much as they used to. I guess I freak out and panic until it gets approved. With Maritz it wasn't so hard to get 50 dollars a station. That route to the Augusta area, we made over $500 in 24 hours between the two of us. (We got a few bonused nighttime red/blue every pump shops in December right before Christmas each one was worth 50-65, then I added an OSI and a daytime shop for the next morning after checkout at least as we were leaving. )I'm sure they make a lot more than that in the New England states but the cost of living is much higher up there. For down here, that was a great route. But on a two -three hour out route we try to make at least 200-300 a day. But when shops that normally go for 50 go for 40 you are either a shop short or have to take on extra work. After driving home for 2 or 3 hours you don't want to be up all night doing reports. Plus sometimes you don't have a signal in the car all the time depending on where you are. And this car takes more gas than my Camry did. One time they canceled a shop when we were in Florida after we had already left the hotel, but Maritz in their awesomeness still paid full price for it even though it was a paper check.
I always take the picture in my car or with my back towards the road as to get nothing else in it. The editors are going crazy. My pics are very narrow.
