If my memory serves me correctly isn’t there a mile requirement? I believe the flight needs to be over 500 miles or something like that. I used to fly from EWR to BOS weekly and was never eligible..

Yes, there is a mileage requirement. But ATL to EWR worked for me.

Do they check or they rely on us to know those details? The reason I ask is that I have a flight (already paid for) that is 50 miles shy of the requirement. I’m thinking of asking the scheduler if this is ok. Either way I’m taking the trip and it would be nice to get a few bucks back.
