Are you using "lube" in some generic sense? Maybe to mean oil change? I haven't had a car that required lubrication of grease joints in decades. Maybe there are still some new cars that do not have sealed fittings?

Shopping Southeast Pennsylvania, Delaware above the canal, and South Jersey since 2008
The mystery shop company is calling them Lube shops. They actually look like a question with no "lube" required and then a revealed interview. I do not do gas station shops so if these are well worth it maybe I will try one.
I'm doing one tomorrow, Monday. I'll let you know how it goes. I've done them in the past and they were easy, but did not require the mystery shop portion as these do, so it's a bit different. Doesn't seem too difficult, but I'm leary of places that are hole in the wall gas station places that probably aren't up to par. The one I'm doing is a legit Mobil lube place and in good shape.

Please report back. No one in my area is picking these up. They are posted for most Mibils. A lot don't even do oil changes which means it would be reported as a closed location.
No purchase so no reimbursed oil change. Just an initial inquiry about one then a revealed interview about lubes with the employee. Doesn't sound like something I want to do but if crazy bonuses happen I would consider it.
Interested in hearing about these. A lot in my regular home area but nothing where I current am for the next couple weeks, so I might get to some eventually. The base fee for this, given the MSC, seems high... making me wonder how long this actually winds up.
The shop wasn't bad as long as you are comfortable interviewing the owner/associate/mechanic. Only two photos are required. The last time I did them (another MSC) there were a lot of photos needed and a lot of checking around the place. Most of this one was the interview questions. I had to wait awhile for the guy to be available otherwise I would have been out in about 20 minutes.

Is this the one where you have to inquire about a synthetic oil change but not get one? Then you do the reveal and interview. I was thinking about doing one. My car requires synthetic oil, so I think it would be natural to ask questions about that. I keep hoping the fee goes up, though. But, based on what MsJudi says, it shouldn't be all that time consuming.

I've learned to never trust spell-check or my phone's auto-fill feature.
I've done several of them and enjoyed the change of pace from gas shops. It doesn't take long to do the work. I only had one location so far that wasn't any type of automotive business.
Its rather funny - when I look at the addresses of the Lube Shops, they are the same addresses as the "Blue" gas station shops.
The funny part is this: Most of those addresses are "Blue' gas stations without any type of area to perform an oil change. IOW, are we just really ascertaining that the shop location is either a for real service station or just a gas station with a C-store and nothing more?
