Cell phone shop audit question. Measuring sprinkler heads.

I did an open audit for a cell phone shop. One of the questions is,...."Are the sprinkler heads 18" apart?" Like I'm going to get a ladder and measure them. I held up my thumb and said, "Looks good to me" LOL Who comes up with these questions? You're also asked..."Is the floor level?"

A conventional suspended ceiling grid is generally 24" x 24". If that's the kind of ceiling (grid and tile), you're going to have a tough time having the heads be 18" apart since every third head is going to hit the grid.

Sprinklers being 18 inches apart is an OSHA or NFPA requirement. It's not random.

There should be no need for the question. It appears they want you to measure it. I'm not getting on a ladder to measure them.

I Installed sprinklers years ago., The maximum distance is 15 feet from head to head. There are also requirements for closets and other smaller enclosed areas such as attics and above suspended ceilings in a mall for example.

18 inches is ridiculous!
The way I look at it, I'm there to look at company procedures, NOT building construction.
Bring a marble or small ball. Discreetly (ok, just drop it randomly) if it rolls, the floor is not level.
