I think I am done doing mystery shops for gyms.

Doing mystery shops for gyms that pay $20 are not worth it. You really have to record the shop to answer half the questions. There's way too much work for such low pay. I think I'm done with them.

On one gym shop, your call is recorded and it's on the report. When you fill out the report, you have to answer questions that are already answered on the 6 minute call. Why waste the shoppers time repeating what's on the call?

Exactly, They insist on having the recording, and then they insist that you type out what you said, exactly. Why would I do that? Like they don't have ears of their own.
Lol I did an app shop that did NOT tell me I would record myself before hand. It was only $10. That's so crazy. They need to pay better. Recording should double a normal shop price. $40 for those gym shops is fair. I've seen $50 before.
I prefer the ones that are tours only. They are much quicker and easier versus the ones that require the workout. I have a gym I like and I'll work out on my own time.
The gyms I have done seem low pay when you factor in the recorded phone call, tour and narrative in the report. I have stopped doing them.
I don't know, I find these pretty easy. And I get 10 minutes in an awesome hydro-massager!
Do you ask schedulers for bonuses, or do you assign shops to yourself? I saw a gym shop that had been on the board for a while that sounds like the same one you are referencing - it had a $5 bonus on it. I emailed the scheduler and said I would do it for $10 more, and the scheduler agreed to $35. It was on the way to another shop in a route and it took about 15 minutes. I made the phone call on the way to a shop a couple of hours earlier in the day, so having the recording and my notes later that evening made the report simple. It's not bad typing out what you can hear for the rate I obtained but I think I probably would have been pretty disappointed at the base rate. If you don't ask for bonuses, try it! Timing is everything and the worst thing that can be said is "No" (which has happened to me plenty of times). grinning smiley

I totally agree the time it takes to complete the report is not worth $20 I have done others that were the same concept but paid $35.

I am waiting for the next exciting opportunity!

It is time-consuming, but at least transcription is easier than remembering events.

The recording is proof. The client doesn't want to take the time to listen to the recording; it's there in case your report is challenged.
There are a few Crunch currently available by me for $65. I will ask for $75.

Shopping Western NY, Northeast and Central PA, and parts of Ohio and West Virginia. Have car will travel anywhere if the monies right.
This is funny I ASSUME you mean in addition to the low pay.

I mean, I've done it in order to be reimbursed for the workout. Worth it to me. Only way I'll ever work out at a gym.
