Bank report they want hand written 10 pages

I did a bank report, for a credit card. The report says to print and fill out 10 pages, convert each page to a PDF and submit each page. Now they want the pages handwritten. I typed in all the information using a PDF. It was much easier to do and read. The report was sent back, saying they want all answers handwritten. This is ridiculous. The shop only pays $32. I'll never do this shop again. I told them I'm not handwriting this report and it was ridiculous.

and I make good money...that's all that matters.
This banking client used to require the handwritten pages (10-25 or more, depending on the project) fedexed prepaid to the MS company. That was a decade ago. Now they require them to be individually scanned, converted to pdf, merged into one file, and uploaded to the shop form.

If you have the kind of scanner that can handle the stack of pages with an autofeed, it helps a lot. Or you could go to Staples and use their autofeed scanner/printer, save the pdf file to a thumb drive. Staples will charge around $0.15 per page more or less, and it's tax deductible.

All this takes more time than the shop itself!
I agree, there is no need for hand written reports anymore. A PDF is much better. The report is easier to type and read. It's ridiculous to require reports to be hand written. Not the kind of shop I'll ever do.
Fine, John, more of those easy shops for me and others who love them and make lots of $$$$ from them.

Such still pops up here and there. A few months ago, I had a handwritten report that logged various contact information with a school. Overall, it wasn't that bad, but my handwriting isn't that great, and they did not even have adequate space in which to write out all of the varous. It was only four pages, but I did a lot of erasing corrections in the process, so this wasn't the neatest report I've ever done. I never could figure out why they thought writing the information in tiny places was better than just typing it out on a word processor. A dollar is a dollar though.

On the one hand, I can write volumes about nothing. On the other hand, after awhile my hand tires and the handwriting gradually deteriorates into squiggles and chicken scratch. No one wants to deal with that. Well, I could find a clever agent who could sell it at astronomical prices to customers who want the latest trend in expression.....

I got an e-mail back from the MSC. The client refuses to budge. Even though 99% of the companies accept electronic signatures, this client refuses to accept them. They demand a hand written copy. It has nothing to do with bank regulations.

I wouldn't do this shop knowing this going in. It would take me forever and my hand would hurt. But if it was in the guidelines and I signed up for and performed it, I would feel obligated to do it this one time to complete my commitment. And then I would never do it again. :-)
I've seen these shops come up, and they're clear that you have to hand-write the reports. So I don't do them.

I don't understand why you took the shop to begin with, knowing you wouldn't hand-write the report. Or is this a different shop that has that hidden? Even so, it would be revealed once it's assigned to you. So you could have canceled it.

I missed the part about hand writing the report. I've never heard of a mystery shop being handwritten, wasn't expecting that. I'll never touch another one of their shops again. From what has been said on here and an e-mail I got from the MSC, this client requires their shops to be handwritten. Even the MSC cannot get this client to change. If those shops don't get done, it's the fault of the client.

It's been a while since I've done one of these shops, but I remember that my handwritten sheet was covered in chicken scratch. I doubt that anyone could read it, but the shop was still accepted.

Last month I did a credit card shop for the same MSC. All they needed was a photo of the signed last page.

I got one message they only needed the last page, than I got another message they wanted all of the report hand written.
I've seen shops that say "written," but when I emailed the scheduler about it, she said that's just what they put. Huh?

It's not written; it's online. I can certainly understand the confusion.

Note that these are not the same shops as OP talked about.
Could you fill in a .pdf file on the computer and then just print and manually sign the last page?

Or there are ways to scan a signature into a file you might be able to paste into a .pdf file?

Do these get bonused above the $32 mentioned above?

I hand wrote it on a PDF and they accepted it, but didn't like it. Who ever this client is, they are making it as hard as they can for the shopper. They want you to really work for the pay.
Yes, at least in my area. The one I did last month paid 2 1/2 x $32. It takes a little time to do the h/w document, but its not like you are handwriting tons of commentary. Many of the pages only have questions where you simply check off a box or boxes if there is more than one answer. Check marks are fast and don't require good penmanship. The most tedious part is the scanning and converting to a PDF. But in lieu of scanning, I took pictures of each page (good camera on phone), pasted onto a Word doc and then converted to a PDF. Shop was accepted.

Most from this MSC pay a LOT more. However, a few of their shops are sometimes subcontracted to another MSC, which takes a big cut, resulting in lower shopper fee.

I'll borrow this for my next such shop.
Several times a year I post about how to make these shops much easier to prepare and submit. Since so few seem to read those posts, these shops end up with large bonuses and that's when I grab more of them. But, they are, mostly, worth doing at the original prices, except for the targeted phone shops. Who is going to find my latest post about how to make these easy to do?

john,
Once you have established a track record of 2-3 good, timely reports, all you need to do is ask for a bonus near the end of a month or quarter, in my experience. Establishing rapport with the scheduler(s) is also a good idea.
