Hand written surveys

Lately I have come across the requirement of submitting surveys hand written as well as electronic. Anyone know what the purpose is of this extra useless busy work which can take a lot of time especially having to scan page by page.

The client has always required this. The MSC cannot talk them out of it. The extra pay more than compensates and these often provide very nice bonuses! My cheap Brother all-in-one scans from its document feeder, so that is easy, as is converting the scanned document to PDF. I skip handwriting all narrative answers and just attach a printed addendum. The editors love (and accept) this with no deductions from my scores.

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
I hear you, but I don't shop just for the $. I like to think my time is providing a worthwhile service. Wasting time on non value "work" actually disgusts me.
My suspicion is that there is a feeling that a lot of cut and paste goes on with reports entered on a keyboard. There is no easy way to cut and paste a handwritten report. Actually, you could literally cut and paste, but it would probably be easier to just rewrite. The ultimate cut and paste are the old-fashioned ransom notes.

I don't deal with this sort of nonsense.
There are plenty of good shops around.
