Alcohol for Breakfast???

I just received a email for Cracker Barrel shop.. The guidelines say

--Shop a Weekend Breakfast (Saturday or Sunday between opening and 4pm).

---You are required to order an alcoholic beverage (bring valid ID)

Who drinks alcohol for breakfast? I can see having alcohol for lunch or supper?

I did not know that CB served alcohol..

It would be nice if they have this shop with out the alcohol drink.. There is not one in my area but I was just wondering.

When did they start serving alcohol

Mimosa or bloody Mary are two that come to mind quickly.

Don't know if they are options but I believe there was another recent thread asking the same thing.
Unless there is a question if they offered you a 2nd drink where they would have to see when you are finished with the 1st, you don't have to drink what you order. I do it all the time. I order a Coors Light, it comes in a brown bottle that unless you hold it up to a light no one can see if you are drinking it. Then just throw it away if you don't want it.
Whether Cracker Barrel serves alcoholic beverages or not depends upon the state (sometimes even the county or the municipality). They began as part of their COVID reopening plan in September 2020 and seem to be adding locations. Alcohol is often the most profitable item on a restaurant menu. As mentioned, Mimosa and Bloody Mary drinks are commonly ordered at breakfast.

Shopping South Jersey, Southeast Pennsylvania, and Delaware above the canal since 2008
I believe that one of the major reasons they are mystery shopping right now is to make sure they roll out of the alcohol is going well and that the servers are suggesting it. I do believe that the window that they consider breakfast actually goes until 4:00 p.m. So it's actually more of a brunch than a breakfast. You could go at 2:00 in the afternoon and order a mimosa.
It says plainly in the guidelines that you have to order a drink and do the timings, but you do not have to drink the alcoholic beverage. I don't drink them, I take a 1/2 a sip to taste it, and I order myself a very tall ice water to go with my meal.
I drink the drinks....haha

Most restaurant shops are not worth it if you dont get anything out of the reimbursement winking smiley As mentioned above, the "breakfast" time period goes to 4PM.

I would if I could. But I have this strong aversion to dying.
In answer to the original question, "Alcohol for Breakfast???"

This shopper replies with a hearty , "YES, PLEASE!"

Preferably not while I'm working!
I went for brunch the other day and had the ice pop spritzer which is the rocket pop and sparkling prosecco. I think. It was actually pretty good.
I just read a couple of days ago about CB's changing menu and the addition of drinks. Overall, their new plan seems to make sense; hope it works.

If I can find whoever shops them and they start offering breakfast-with-drinks shops, I'm there! Nothing like a Bloody Mary with a late morning breakfast. Of course, my husband will have to drive.

I learn something new every day, but not everyday!
I've learned to never trust spell-check or my phone's auto-fill feature.
I have done hundreds of bar shops (bars, nightclubs, casino/hotel resorts, restaurants) requiring me to order alcohol, but I would be too drunk to do my job properly if I drank all that liquor during the shops. I always use tstewart3's method when I order beer. There ARE cocktails that look like glasses of ice water. Restroom trips are helpful for disposing of booze. Perhaps we should have thread on the different ways to avoid drinkinig alcohol during shops that require alcohol purchases..
A separate thread on how to avoid drinking would be great! I feel it’s bit awkward to walk away from bar with the glass and then return with it empty… and then wait for bartender to offer another. Can someone describe this?
None of these shops require you to drink the alcohol that you purchase. Even the bar shops in restaurants, and the servers really don't care. You are not required to provide a scenario where the server would ask to refill your drink, you can observe other customer's experiences for that kind of stuff, or pick NA. The servers are supposed to offer refills of fountain drinks and water also. The guidelines for most say they just want you to observe them making the drink, or time them.

The TXRH bar shops have been changed, they don't require you to purchase alcohol at all, just observe the bartenders making the mixed drinks, and do the service timing on your beverage purchase.

I got sick at a cracker barrel, the salad dressing was diluted with extra mayonnaise. I can tollerate a little bit of mayo in a salad dressing, but when it tastes like barely seasoned mayo my throat says, "sorry sucker, you're gonna choke and die." To avoid dying, I "expelled" what I was choking on directly onto the floor. No one noticed, not the server or busser or anyone, I cleaned up my mess. I asked for my meal to be packed up so i could take it home (the chickens really liked it). And I left. Still got paid for the shop. Never ate a single bite, or drank anything except a couple sips of water.
All the alcohol shops I do test/ask if bartenders offer a second beverage.

It's not strange to order a glass of ice water with a cocktail, especially here in the desert. A couple minutes after you receive your margarita over ice and a glass of ice water, and you have paid, got your receipt if required, and observed what the bartender did with your tip, take your drinks with you to the restroom. If this feels awkward, you might want to ask the bartender where the restroom is.

Pour the margarita (but not the ice) in the toilet. Pour enough water from the glass of water over the ice remaining in the empty margarita glass to make the glass appear about 1/3 full. Return to the bar with what looks and smells like a margarita but is mostly ice with a little water. The bartender should offer a refil if she/he is doing her/his job. You have now completed most of your generally required bartender and restroom observations, and you are sober to write your report.
Are you serious?

Bloody Marys, Greyhounds, Bellinis, Mimosas are typical day drinking fares.

I had brunch with some friends this morning. Two people had a flight of mimosas and one had a spicy Bloody Mary.

when ppl leave for the restroom, they just leave theit drinks on the bar?

Yes, but you can OBSERVE this without experiencing it.
I'm just picturing a guy taking his drink to the restroom and telling the guy at the next urinal, "Hold my beer..." Or the Seinfeld episode where George is in a book store and takes a book to the the restroom with him. There may be an unwritten rule that some things should not be brought to public restrooms.

No, no, you go inside a stall, not a urinal. However it is quite common for guys to put their empy glasses on top of a urinal and leave it there.

That is not a good idea. Someone could sneak something into your drink while you are gone. Always take your drink with you if you are sitting or standing at the bar to drink.

AZ is right, I wouldn't drink something that I left on the bar when I went to the restroom. EVERY woman should know that. That is how bad things happen.

The only time I would leave my drink unattended is if I were with a companion that I trust. A family member or a spouse, or even a close friend that you've known for more than a few days or minutes. I would leave a drink on a table With my son, or his wife, or my friend Jeffrey who I've known since I was 15. And very few other people.

So there are good reasons to carry your drinks to the restroom with you. And a bartender wouldn't question it.
