New list of stuff you can get for your $1 gas station store reimbursement

- A single small bag of Planter's Peanuts.

- A 1 oz. bag of chips IF you can find them, not found in corporate stores such as Circle K.

- A small Little Debbie cake. Oatmeal, fudge, chocolate chip or granola, if found at the likes of Circle K, probably expired.

- Fountain drink. Some stores have any size for 89 cents.

- Small package of cheese/peanut butter crackers. Sometimes.

Please add to the list. It's slim pickins out there! I've noticed many stores have completely done away with small packages of anything. Only biggish bags of chips, cakes and crackers, for more money. Also beware of expiration dates. I have found things over a year past due and even national convenience stores are big offenders.

The more I learn about people...the more I like my dog..

Mark Twain
Arizona Iced Tea, but watch for those corporate stores now. Make sure the can has 99c still listed on it.
Might be able to find small bags of mints or candies in the 2/$1.50 section.
Keebler crackers, sometimes, but usually not more than $1.19. Yes, yes, yes on check expiration dates!!
Hmmm, I can buy 2 bags of Planter's for $1.09 - but, you have to watch for the employee to charge $0.69 each - point out they're 2 for $1.09.
For the 7/11 gas stations, 2 bananas go for $1.00. Some of the waters are only $0.79 to $0.99. Sometimes their cheese sticks are $0.99.
-Lollipops.
-Sometimes the small Oreo packages (4 cookies) are $.99, but sometimes they’re over $2.
-Traditional packs of 5 pieces of gum. I see these very rarely these days.
-Fresh fruit. Bananas are usually 2/$1 at 7-eleven, but definitely less than $1 for one everywhere, and apples are usually $.79-$.99. If there are limes they are cheaper. I give away the bananas right away because if an allergy and they don’t keep well and save the apples.
-Small pieces of candy. Some stores have them by the register—I think mostly to give out when they run out of change. Though I have had cashiers tell me I can have it for free … aaah.

I guess Farmer and I had some of the same ideas..

Single packet of medication like generic aspirin or ibuprofen is usually under a dollar in the gas stations I shop.

I find many f ht items in the gas stations that were mentioned above but what really gets me is that they charge tax which always brings them just over $1. And that isn't reimbursed.
This thread pretty much covers it. Sometimes the store brand lighters are under $1. It is getting harder and harder, and is just making me buy junk I really should not be buying, or spending way more than I should. I've always steered away from the 25 cent gum packets and such as too obvious, but I'm giving them serious thought now.
I am constantly looking for those purse size packages of tissue.

Actually, my last half dozen purchases have been post cards. But ya gotta have someone to mail them to!

Even the tiny packages of meds, like 2 aspirin or 2 advil, are well over $1. Chapstick is over $2.

I always report when the shelf price is one thing and it's rung up as another -- always, of course, higher.

Many of the packages of crackers & peanut butter have risen to $1.19-$1.49.

A single can of soda, small, just can't be found -- and what's there is over $2. Same for bottled water. The shelf may say "2/$2", but if you buy one, it's $1.49.

The small roll of life-savers last week was $l.49. In Nebraska, there's no sales tax on food, so if I buy a food item for $.99, it's just $.99. If I go over the border, it's over a dollar, because of sales tax.

"Munchies", an off brand of peanuts and crackers with peanut butter, are tasteless but much cheaper than brand names.

I really wish the reimbursement would be raised to $2 so I'm not out of pocket. It is truly difficult to find anything under $1. Even those one ounce packs of chips are no longer 99 cents.

I do try to buy something I truly need, or at least will eventually use.

When I do a straight mystery shop, the reimbursement is usually $5. I can get something really worthwhile then -- a roll of paper towels, a quart of oil for my car, or lunch.
I am finding about the same stuations as cease. My state does not charge state tax on packaged food but 90% of Chevron/ Texaco stations charge it anyway. I report that as well as inconsistent pricing and expired food.

I wish I had 7/11s!
