Chiptole Shops

Are they back? I read a while ago they were with a different MSC. I walked passed Chiptole the other day and decided to pop in. $10+ for a veggie bowl????

Why didn't you ask when you went in? You could ask if they were still mystery shopped. I don't see why they would lie to you. I've done that at places I don't shop anymore either because the MSC sucks, the report sucks or BOTH suck.

I say, "I used to shop you clowns, but don't anymore."
Why would you identify yourself as a shopper? Not only would you not know who might overhear your conversation but restaurant employees often have more than one job or change jobs. I have seen one worker at more than four different restaurant chains in my area. We recognize each other and I certainly hope he does not realize I am a shopper. The last time I saw him was less than two weeks ago -- during a shop.

I don't "identify" myself often. I reserve my reveals for clients I won't shop anymore (at least with the current MSC). I'm not a full-time shopper. This is a hobby for me. I'm in a major metropolitan area. I really don't care if they know. My chances of running into them again is very unlikely and will they really remember or care?
For Chipotle, I use Discover Rewards which gives you like a 10% bonus on cards. Then I use their app, which gives fairly generous rewards. But their food has consistently become pricier. Many people hate on them, but they must be doing something right.
The price rise in Chipotle is consistent with higher prices at most restaurants or even less than some in my market. .
When I was trained for Chipotle originally the training session was at one of their restaurants that was one I shopped later. The staff that were there that day all knew the faces of the shoppers at that training. And I would see my training manager at other locations I did. They did not seem to me to be trying very hard to hide who the shoppers were.
With how busy Chipotle usually is, even if they recognized you I dont see what they could do in a timely manner to affect the shop.

I get quite inconsistent servings from the few restaurants of this type that I eat at. I sometimes notice a vast difference in the service from the person in front of me with a different staff member to my service in terms of serving size ( my main interest) and also all the other things that clients are interested in. There is no doubt in my mind that if the server I had remembered my face as the shopper my experience would be bumped up a notch.

I can't believe the differences in QUANTITY and QUALITY at different locations. The new location near me is excellent. It's like how it was when they first came out. Most of the locations near me are terrible.

CMG stock has done phenomenal since they pilfered the CEO from Taco Bell like 5 years ago. Chipotle stock had fallen to like $300 per share. It is now around $1700 per share. I still kick myself for not buying more when it dropped to $300. I'm still ahead...but if only.....
Chipotle stock fell mainly due to several salmonella and the like cases in just a few years. Perhaps the ceo from Taco Bell cleaned up their issues for them. And of course business was booming during the pandemic in those types of restaurants already geared towards pick up meals.
A few weeks ago I ate at Blaze (my own dime) and the two ladies serving were so stingy. I asked for feta cheese and she pinched an amt equal to what you would give someone if they asked for salt. The sauce left half the crust uncovered even after I asked for more, and so it went. My friend went thru the line with a different server and she got at least 3x the amt of food without having to ask for more. I went back yesterday and fortunately did not have those servers and once again I had a fabulous pizza. I always get artichoke hearts. Some of them take the little one third of a heart and separate it into thin leaves so the entire pizza has a 1/3 heart on it. Others put chunks of artichoke hearts all over. There is no consistency anymore without the mystery shops.

FWIW the old MSC for Chipotle, who at time also had Shake Shack and Roti, honestly didn't seem to give a hoot if we identified ourselves or not. They stuff they had us doing basically outed us anyway.
I was in that program for many years and my recollections are different. As I recall, that MSC did not care at all if we identified it as the MSC for Chipotle. OTOH, the MSC did care if we identified ourselves as shoppers during shops.

No of course we were not supposed to identify ourselves but they were more able to identify us than with other companies. I was at a shop near my work one day when the manager for the day saw me and said he remembered me from another location 3 or 4 miles away. I only shopped the other location once every 4-6 months or so. I have no idea if he thought I was the shopper but I smiled and told him I worked near the location I was at that day and lived near the other one. (it was true I worked down the street from where I was that day.)
Personally I did not think any of the questions at Chipotle would out me. I have been absent minded in stores since the days when I struggled through shopping with a toddler or baby in tow trying to pay attention to what I was buying and a young un at the same time. That was 30 years ago and i still have not gotten my concentration back when ordering or checking out.
I would remember someone if he called me a clown.

I feel "CLOWN" is more acceptable than jack*ss, dumbsh*t or some other name I could come up with. Usually when talking on the phone about an issue with a bank, insurance co,calbe provider or any other business, I will refer to the previous person IF THEY WERE NOT HELPFUL as a clown. If the previous person was helpful, I don't refer to them as a clown.

JUST TO BE CLEAR...these are not shop scenarios that I'm doing this with. I'm doing this for my personal needs.

Ehh, you're probably right. Not that a lot of the Chipotle people didn't eventually figure it out thanks to those stupid "I have a question for you" things.
Prices everywhere have increased.
