Why didn't you ask when you went in? You could ask if they were still mystery shopped. I don't see why they would lie to you. I've done that at places I don't shop anymore either because the MSC sucks, the report sucks or BOTH suck.
I say, "I used to shop you clowns, but don't anymore."

The price rise in Chipotle is consistent with higher prices at most restaurants or even less than some in my market. .
When I was trained for Chipotle originally the training session was at one of their restaurants that was one I shopped later. The staff that were there that day all knew the faces of the shoppers at that training. And I would see my training manager at other locations I did. They did not seem to me to be trying very hard to hide who the shoppers were.

With how busy Chipotle usually is, even if they recognized you I dont see what they could do in a timely manner to affect the shop.

Why would you identify yourself as a shopper? Not only would you not know who might overhear your conversation but restaurant employees often have more than one job or change jobs. I have seen one worker at more than four different restaurant chains in my area. We recognize each other and I certainly hope he does not realize I am a shopper. The last time I saw him was less than two weeks ago -- during a shop.

FWIW the old MSC for Chipotle, who at time also had Shake Shack and Roti, honestly didn't seem to give a hoot if we identified ourselves or not. They stuff they had us doing basically outed us anyway.

I don't "identify" myself often. I reserve my reveals for clients I won't shop anymore (at least with the current MSC). I'm not a full-time shopper. This is a hobby for me. I'm in a major metropolitan area. I really don't care if they know. My chances of running into them again is very unlikely and will they really remember or care?

I was in that program for many years and my recollections are different. As I recall, that MSC did not care at all if we identified it as the MSC for Chipotle. OTOH, the MSC did care if we identified ourselves as shoppers during shops.

For Chipotle, I use Discover Rewards which gives you like a 10% bonus on cards. Then I use their app, which gives fairly generous rewards. But their food has consistently become pricier. Many people hate on them, but they must be doing something right.
