Wand Scanner

I know that there has been discussion on a couple of other threads about the wand scanners. I just saw one offered on buy.com for $70, so I thought I would share the link with you all. Here it is:

Thanks, good price...I received a $25.00 off coupon for anything over 75.00 at office max. Think is would be a good tool for travel.

Live consciously....
OVC had one as their "Today's Special Value" the other day. I think the regular price is 99.00 but you can get it on "3 easy payments of 33 something.
I asked about wand scanners before and many people replied that a decent digital camera works just as well.

I have found this to be true with one exception. Sometimes, when receipts are REALLY long, it's hard to photograph them, so I think in this case a wand scanner would be preferable.
i have never been able to use a picture to do a receipt... the photo just never turns out right... sad... it would be so easy if i could... perhaps its because i have a hard time keeping the camera focused... i take antidepressents which cause me to have the shakes...

shopping north west PA and south west ny
I can take pictures of most receipts unless they are too light. Then a scanner is required. Long receipts like the ones I get from the post office are a problem too.
Got wand scanner on sale at KMart today for $79 plus tax. Run, run, run before they run out!

Check out this deal on Amazon for a portable scanner.

This would be a great solution for scanning receipts and you can't beat the price. I just use my smartphone to take pictures of receipts and send them to myself from the road, but I know a lot of shoppers would like an actual scanner.

I'm going to cross post this to the other discussion(s) about portable scanners so those who posted with an interest at some point will see this.

I bought one of these to scan pictures and it does not work well...ok it sucks. I don't have the brochure or anything for it anymore, but I swore it said not to use receipts in it, as if they would tear or something. I got it long before I started shopping and thought it might be nice just for filing personal receipts.
Wow, even for receipts it would stink? That's too bad, because it's inexpensive. Thanks for the review.

I do the camera photos because it is so much faster than my scanner. I can get through a pile of 8 to 10 in the time the scanner finishes one. I was able to get a clear picture of the post office receipts, but some of the ridiculously long ones, I have cut in an area there was white space and laid side by side. I had a few I even had to do with a scanner.

I have had less receipts questioned with the camera with regard to clarity than I did with the scanner.
I received my new VuPoint Magic Wand Portable Scanner a couple of days ago and it is terrific! Very easy to set up and get started using. Just pop a Micro SD card into it and the included 2 AA batteries and you're good to go! I am very impressed with it, especially at its $49 price (see my other post for the web address to order it), which included shipping. It will allow you to scan in full-page sized documents... will be great for doing motel shops on the road (if I ever get paid for the ones I've already done! smiling smiley ) LOVE IT!
