In-person car shops

What happened to in-person dealership shops? Have you all been still seeing them, or seeing them again? There used to be several in my area a few years ago, but there have been zero in the last couple of years. There are phone sales shops and online shops (which hate), but no dealership visits, which I like.

Oops, I take that back. There's one on-site negotiation shop I see posted fairly regularly, but it requires two visits, and the nearest dealership to me is about 30 miles away. It doesn't pay enough for me to travel 120 miles in total to do this one.

Maybe this is just in my area that they've disappeared.

I learn something new every day, but not everyday!
I've learned to never trust spell-check or my phone's auto-fill feature.

I've seen some Polestar (electric car) shops here in Southern California. I really am not interested, so I don't look at the details. I remember at one time, Maritz had car dealership shops with an upscale Japanese brand. I did a few of those (pre-covid).
Just my opinion I would rather go to the dentist who doesn't use any pain killers and have all my teeth pulled then to set foot in a car dealership.
I just did a circuit of 8 that were bonused $40 each thru the intelligent MSC. No test drive or negotiation.

Like hbbigdaddy I see Polster too.

I also see the 2 visit one you mentioned. In my area, they also have a 1 visit shop and a phone/online option. Both of those pay less than the 2 visit. The same MSC had korean car dealership shops in CA and OR in Oct. No test drive or negotiation for $75.

They disappeared during COVID I'm thinking because many want a test drive.
I took my car to the dealership for a non-shop, free oil change. Service was full and Sales was a ghost town. The salesmen were sniffing the area with desperation.

I say that to say, it's not a good time for car sales.
