1099 is the form that they send you when youve made over $600 for the year (which isn't over yet). The form you would have to fill out for an MSC so that you can receive your 1099 would be a W-9. I don't think Presto sends out W-9 forms, and therefore no 1099 forms, because even the blue and purple pin insta-shops are through MSCs that are who actually provide the funds to pay you.
I would log in directly to Presto, not using the link in the e-mail.

I believe you're right to be cautious!

I had to fill out one for Presto even though the shops I was and am doing stemmed from a certain MSC. And this was because Presto pays you directly for those shops. It is legitimate.
This was part of what I was sent when I made an inquiry about it:

We use Track1099.com to collect W-9 forms because of its state of the art security (For more information go to [track1099.com] and click the “Security” link)

If you do exceed $600 in Presto payments for the current tax year, early next year you’ll receive a 1099 form from us which will include the total amount of your Presto payments to help you file your taxes properly.

What happens if I DON’T fill out the W-9 form?

Unfortunately, we’ll have to put a hold on you performing any additional Insta-Shops. As you might imagine, the IRS gets cranky when companies like Presto continue to pay independent contractors who haven’t filled out a W-9 form.
Same here when i hit 600 long ago. Also when i changed my email, it triggered needing an updated one.
There is a good chance that the email you received is a phishing scam, aimed to get your personal information. Be very cautious. What is the email address? If your email program allows you to report it as a phishing email or spam, I would do that.

Alternatively, you could open a ticket on Prestoshopper's support page and ask them about it. Go here: [shopper-support.prestomobilesurveys.com]

The W-9 is what you fill out first, for any given year. The 1099 isn't usually sent out until January of the following year.
