Closed During Posted Open Hours

I’m wondering if this has happened to anyone else, and if so, what you did. My last gas station of the night tonight was closed. This is the second time I’ve been to this location, to find it closed, but the first time, thought it might be because of the holiday. Today, I called to verify. I get there and find it shut down and dark - with the hours posted, in neon lights, on the window, clearly showing they should be open. I emailed the scheduler, who has always been nice and helpful with me. This is a remote location, with no other shops around, so I’m on the losing end having to go back out again. Tomorrow isn’t an option for me since I have other things scheduled, in a different direction. So, just wondering, anyone else have this happen to them?

I had a mobil/exxon station that was closed (just the store). I did the pumps and exterior portion and marked it as unmanned. I took a picture of the note on the door stating it was closed. I got paid.
Why would you go back again? I get if it is close to home, then do it. But not to make a special trip way out to somewhere for a single shop. I would have done what Pegleg2000 did. You do everything you can and you submit photo evidence that you were unable to complete and you were there during "open hours."

if they are unwilling to pay you when their client SHOULD have been open (provided it wasn't a power outage or natural disaster)....then you do a @shopperbob and terminate your relationship with them (if you can afford to do so).

It happens. If you called to confirm the hours, and found it closed, you are perfectly within your rights to report it as a closed location and wash your hands of it. I personally try to redo the shop if it does not require a lot of extra travel, but that isn't always possible.
Maybe it was not the information they would like to have received. However, I would think that the location being repeatedly closed during stated hours would be a very valuable piece of information for the powers that be in that organization. If it was at all feasible at the location, as in safe, I would also do as @pegleg2000 mentioned and take what pictures I could. I would also file my report on what I found. Unless fairly compensated, I would not travel a great distance to try again. If they do not take your report, I would at the least not take that location again.

The reason to go back is if you don't and 1 drops off your schedule you get a nasty letter that if you ever let another drop off you will be dropped from the entire program. I had others drop off due to internet problems but i picked them up and finished the reports since I had already completed the onsite visit. . The company doesn't understand that if tbe wifi is down at the hotel and you have 1 bar for hotspot, pictures don't upload before sassie timesout. If you are uploading 10 pictures it just gets impossible.

I had 1 that had to be done at night, posted hours were to be open until 8pm. I arrived at 7:05PM and they were closed. I worked the rest of the night on the other night locations and went back at their posted opening at 6AM. Of course the store wasn't open so i got the exterior shots and the employee showed up around 6:20AM. Did the rest of the pictures and purchases. Just about everything was wrong with this station. Bathroom fixtures broken, dirty everywhere, pumps not working. Working against time because it had to be done in darkness, i missed 1 side of the MID so no pay. I am not sure the nighttime shops are worth it. Walking around in slippery rain or snow, 25-30 degrees and the company serms just so callous about how hard we work in adverse conditions.
I submitted it as a closed shop, so I guess will wait to see what they say. This was a bonused shop because of it's remote location, and the guidelines say you will get reduced pay if unable to complete the evaluation. That's what I was mad about - calling ahead, then travelling that distance, and still their closed, then I get reduced pay to top it off. And no, I did not want to go back - I just hate to take a job then not complete it. I'm glad to hear this happened to pegleg2000 and she was paid anyway - maybe I'm getting riled up over something that won't even happen. I hope so - I didn't get the pump photos, just the overall site, and of course, that neon sign with their hours on it. I'll remember that though, heaven forbid, it happens again.
Had something similar recently with a ghost kitchen working out of an IHOP. Had a route in a city an hour away, and tacked on a few of these that were bonused on the upper end to end the day, late night. When I went to place the order, they weren't showing up, even though the IHOP was available, and I thought it might be because it was after 10PM or something. Told scheduler the situation, and he cancelled them. Next trip out to the city, picked one up planning to do it at 5PM. Same thing... said it was closed and would reopen at 6AM, but the posted hours were odd "Opens daily at 6AM", with no closing time. All 4 delivery apps wouldn't display the location, or would say it was closed, even though it was just 5PM. This made me think they weren't operating, since it was so early. Called the IHOP to try and see what was going on, but I wasn't sure the employee understood what I was talking about because of a language barrier.

Told the scheduler the details, and asked if I could maybe get a $5 courtesy payment for the hassle. He said if I could go back and document it with all 4 delivery apps, I would get paid, because the information is useful to the client. I thought cool, I'll swing by the area on the next route and make $20 for 5 minutes of screenshots. Well next time I went out there, expecting to spend 5 minutes and continue with my route... wouldn't you know it, the place showed up this time, with a big "Newly Added" banner, lol. So instead of the planned 5 minutes, I had to place an order, and of course it took an hour for it to be delivered, which had me running the rest of the night to stay on schedule, hah.
