USPS shops why the 30 minute wait buffer

Why is there a 30 minute wait between USPS shops? I think someone mentioned that it was a client request and I get that, but what is the point? I can't think of another shop that has a hold time like this before you can perform the next location task.

A USPS visit is a luck of the draw. Sometimes there is no one in there and other times you might have to wait 25 minutes in line before it is your turn for service.

The wait times take it from a decent assignment to an unattractive one. You can't do a post office only route. It has to be combined with other tasks.

When they had blue pins on the shop, after 2 or 3 were selected, the rest disappeared for that market for the day.

It has been that way at least since I started in 2000. Many client requirements have been changed, relaxed or removed altogether (uniforms, POP signage, etc.) But not that one. Yet.

I always look at that dead time as a chance to get some of my steps in.

I'm with OP, especially since they want you to complete the report as soon as the shop is done, at least if using the app. If I've finished the report, i should be able to move on to the next. I also don't get the 5 per day limit. I always miss out on a couple I would have done, but didn't want to drive back to that area to do them on a different day. Its stupid.
I use the time in between shops to do the report, browse Facebook and prepare my paperwork for the next one. I swear, it takes me 3 minutes to get out of my car sometimes while I take a photo of the box, get my cc ready, grab the package, pen and paper, and recorder. I'm a mess sometimes. So, if I can organize before hand, I'm good to go before I get to the next one.

I would think that because it’s a government program, multiple packages from the same sender, at different locations might look like some type of terroristic threat and could flag the system. Try to think of the big picture.
I'm more concerned about what the mail person must think when he delivers the same packages to me over and over and over..sometimes 4-5 a day. Never worried about what the government thinks..it is their program after all.

It's that way because it's that way. All guidelines for all shops are like that. Take it or leave it.
I remember back in the day MF had mall retail shops and they were that way too. I would pick up all three of the locations in the same mall and would have to wait 30 minutes between.
The wait time is to ensure you don't confuse details from one shop with the next one, and to prevent accidents from rushing across town. In the old days they presumed you would fill in the form in those 30 minutes, then arrive at the next location with a fresh, clean memory.
