Any Vet shops this month for my dog?

Hi shoppers. I'd like to know which companies have vet shops. I know the company that does VCA pet hospitals and don't see any posted this month.

A stray dog showed up at my door two weeks ago today and I have not been able to locate his owner. I took him to the vet to get scanned for a microchip and he did not have one. I plan on starting the adoption process.

I'll be taking him to the vet on Tuesday and hoping that I can pick-up a shop to help with the costs. I believe he may also have a UTI infection or something similar so any help with the bill would be really helpful.

Thanks!

I think you would have located the owner sooner by taking him to the pound in your area. If I lost my dog, as owner, I would first check the pound to locate my dog. Owners cannot locate their dogs if you have them in your back yard. I apologize if I sound stern but I truly believe that the ASPCA is a very helpful tool in locating owners and will give the dog medical attention they need. They will also give you the dog after they have tried to locate the owner for a week or so.

As far as vet jobs go I would like to know also. I have not seen any for months now and used to do them every 3 months or so.
We did take him to a pound. He showed up with a shoe string tied to his neck and no dog collar/tag. We walked him daily for a ten block radius around the neighborhood and only one person recognized him. My mom sometimes took him for a walk to my aunt's house, which is about 1.8 miles away, taking different routes and no one recognized him. The one neighbor who did recognize him said that she'd seen him walking around the neighborhood but did not know who he belonged to. I put up flyers near my home as well. We live in the city so his owner should have been easy to locate if they were responsible owners. Who ties a shoe string around their dog? The ASPCA told me that they haven't had any any reports of any missing animals in my neighborhood. They offered to pick him up and give him medical attention but I offered to take him to VCA and to keep him in the meantime. I see them outside of my local PetSmart all the time so I handed him his picture so they could have on file.

Well you are right; a dog with a shoestring around his neck tells a different story....So glad it was you who found him. Sorry for my over zealous lecture as I am as passionate as you when it comes to my dogs.

And yes, as soon as I find out a vet job I will be happy to get you the info.
I haven't done the vet shops, infrequent as they are. I prefer vets of choice for my critters. Some vets are about more than the bottom line. I do business with competent and caring doctors, who are sympathetic to 'owners' of rescue animals. I have found local agencies might lend assistance, financial or adoption, such as animal shelters, groomers, or boarders.

A month ago, I stepped out on the back porch with my morning coffee, and heard a meowing kitten. Somehow, someway, there was a helpless, barely weaned kitten. Probably, her feral mother dropped her. I tried to find her a home, but with no luck. I even offered the local shelter $40 to take her. Still no luck. Her name is June Bug. She'll soon get fixed and become part of a household that certainly did not need another cat.

Anonymous Girl, good luck with the dog. A shoestring? Poor thing. Lucky to have found you.
I'm lucky as the vet shop I do is my vet as well. But the vet shops are very scarce these days and very few come around. I asked the MSC and they said the vets are no longer doing them monthly and to keep checking.

So I keep checking. I am glad I did them when I did ....I have two dogs who only need yearly check ups so far. (knock on wood). I also go to my local pet shop where I get their shots in between vet visits.

We had a wonderful and caring vet, along with a great staff! I mostly wanted to get a second opinion. I'm now considering switching Vets.
It is nice to see so many kind shoppers who are also animal lovers. My daughter had a cat follow her home one day. She called me and asked if she could bring it home. I told her we already had two cats and could not take the chance of bringing another into our apartment. However, we did get a neighbor to take her. we gave her all the supplies. It turned out to be a wonderful pet. We put signs up and no one ever claimed her.

With regard to the vet shops. If someone is looking for low cost vet care, the humane society is one of the best. They are here in New York, and I believe they are in other states as well.
I can't believe my favorite shop/MSC for Vet Hospitals has almost entirely vanished. (So California). If anyone sees any please let me and others know. Thanks in advance!
