Of course, EIC has been a federal credit for many years. Some States have had it in place, including TY2010. Suggest you check with Connecticut's DOR.
I've been going through the Dept. of Rev's web site and it doesn't exactly say it was in place in 2010, but it is in place for 2011. What is TY2010?
I've never heard of that.
Just know, the year your child turns 17, you don't get federal EIC anymore. sad smiley I lost it with my oldest a couple years ago. I have one I can claim this year but next, he'll be 17. Drats. Thankfully, I have a wee one who'll qualify for awhile.

I don't know why 17. It's not like the kids are moving out at that ripe old age. Most kids don't graudate until they're 18, unless they made it in before the district's cut-off date. Some don't leave home until well in their 20s.

You can still claim them as dependents, but that fat little EIC bonus goes bye bye at 17.

You are confusing the Earned Income Credit (EIC) with the Child Tax Credit. Once your child reaches the age of 17, you can not receive the Child Tax Credit (Nonrefundable Tax Credit) or the Additional Tax Credit (Refundable Credit).

You can claim your children (or Qualifying child) up to age 23 if they are full time student for the EIC. The maximum amount of children you can claim is 3 child which started in 2010.
