McDonald's marketing madness- Hamburglar returns.

McDonald's marketing is downright confusing. They are practically saying the existing burgers are sub par by offering edible burgers and charging more for them.

Now they want to scare the children with this image:

It makes me think that they have hired Don Draper from "Mad Men" to do the marketing.

LOL, I like your take on this new marketing plan, Scanman!
I have noticed they have introduced a better burger-maybe this will work for them.
I received a coupon book in the mail where the new "Angus Burgers" come with a free medium drink and medium fries.

I decide to try it out.

It tasted almost exactly the same as a quarter pounder, right down to the fillers and texture, only with a slightly larger patty.

The bun had a few folds on the top, yet it was made from the same exact dough as the old burgers and had no taste difference.

I attempted to order the mushroom burger only to be told that they were out of mushrooms. Then I ordered the bacon and white Cheddar burger.

The "White Chedder" was still processed cheese with more oil than dairy and it tasted like the normal cheese without the food coloring.

The bacon was really hard as if it has been sitting around since breakfast.

For a burger that cost $5.89 with no sides, you'd think it would come with tomato. Nope! That was an extra 30 cents.

I almost ate half of it and left the tray on the table with the uneaten burger for the employees to see that it was inedible. The only thing good about the burger was the 30 cent tomato slice. I finished that.

There is no "meal" for this burger, so you have to pay full price for the fries and drink without the coupon.

This puts you in the almost $10 category for a very non premium FF burger.

I asked the cashier what burger tastes better and her reply was, "I never tried any of them." This tells me that they don't even allow the employee discount to apply to this menu item.

I think I'll keep eating the burgers at both the peanut oil fries franchises that are shopped.
Ugh. I'm going to have weird dreams now that the McPizza will come back again...
They'd be better off bringing back the ground up earthworm burgers, but instead of trying to hide it, re-marketing it with an alternative, gourmet, ecofriendly twist.

Where are we going... and why are we in a hand basket?

Great post!

i agree with you 100% all mcburgers suck, the only thing i will eat from there and its rare is breakfast. or a large drink for a buck with fries or oatmeal cookies on the way home its right off the freeway exit by my house and the drive thru is always fast!
for around 6 bucks i would choose IN-N-OUT double double meal or a double cheese burger meal at THE HABIT the quality is 10 levels above mc d's!
The last time they did a meet and greet for the kids with the Hamburglar a little kid got so terrified she pee'd on his lap. Not surprisingly no other kids sat on his lap for photos after that.

LULZY! Once upon a time, I had to dress up as Hamburglar for a kiddie function. I got mobbed, but not defecated/urinated on, thankfully. I think a maintenance guy was Ronald and a cook was Grimace.

That suit was hot and didn't breathe well, too.
they still think people want to buy premium sandwiches at mcdonalds... people go to mcdonalds cause they are broke! DUH! or retired and want to spend 5 hours in the morning and only buy one coffee and free refills...

it amazes me how stupid they are... they already canned the 1/3 pounders and now they are bringing them back...

in the next few years they will go the way of the peanut shell burger place... stopping offering "dine in/carry out" and throwing everything in the bag... less mess, no trays to wash, no employees trying and failing to remember whether they belong on a tray or in a bag...

they cant figure out how to make a iced decaf... "we dont offer that." YOU HAVE ICE! YOU HAVE DECAF! PUT THEM TOGETHER! ... i had to order a hot decaf and a glass for ice and then combined the two myself because they couldnt figure it out... or they thought tartar sauce was bigmac sauce...

my g/f has worked 6 years at one and they still cant hire good employees... they let them call off all the time...

taco bell has expanded its dollar menu... thats what mcdonalds should do... but they cant figure out they are not a "fast casual" im sure they eventually will... but that will be after they figure out no one wants to have a "build your own burger" menu
