Possible E coli breakout - Chipotle restaurants closed in WA and OR

Just posting for the shoppers that do the Chipotle restaurants...beware of the cilantro. I doubt the fee will pay your doctor bills!

Did they not have this same issue a month or two ago?

I remember there being a suspicion of the cilantro in general, but I don't recall Chipotle actually being fingered before, and definitely don't remember the restaurants in 2 states being closed. I do the Chipotle shops, but I think I will be skipping the next round or two...
I don't think it was narrowed down to cilantro, and I think the problem was in California, but we've discussed illness at Chipotle not too long ago:

After reading the above posts I went and looked at the news. It is in fact in Washington and Oregon and there are 6 restaurants where these illnesses have been reported from but Chipotle has closed all of the branches in those two states just to be on the safe side (or because the state ordered that?). This just took place today but people have been reporting illness for a week or so. Most of their food is fairly locally sourced. I did not read about it being Cilantro but that may have been mentioned in a different newscast. The one I read said they do not yet know the source but they have determined that Chipotle is the common factor. I plan to go in costume tonight to get a $3 burrito in Southern Calif. If I get sick I will let you all know!
Oh wow, I had forgotten about the $3 burrito deal...I am sure there will be some sad WA and OR customers at their doors today.

I mentioned the Cilantro because it has been an ongoing issue- at least here in the Pacific Northwest - since about mid summer. Now that I think about it, I haven't heard anything in the news about the cilantro today, but I am pretty certain that is the first thing that will be investigated...
All of this tells me that i should not eat at Chipotle. Too bad, their food is really good.

Yikes! I have 4 scheduled for November. Fortunately I don't live in any of those areas....
I've only eaten there a couple of times; it's not my style. I only went because my sister had coupons and wanted me to go. Nope, not a fan.
I did a Chipotle shop today and the restaurant was mostly empty. Usually there are 17 to 18 ppl waiting, today there were only 3.
Chipotle location I was just at for lunch today was packed, as usual. FYI, Chipotle sources their ingredients locally for each of their regions. If you're away from the northwest, I wouldn't worry about the E Coli issues from that area of the country.

Shopping the Greater Denver Area, Colorado Springs and in-between in Colorado. 33 year old male and willing to travel!
