I applied for a job a few years ago which wanted your Facebook access. I don't do Facebook, so that wasn't a problem. My problem was the idea that they could even request it. It is such a fine line in the current society with hate speech, and so many of the latest batch of crazies posting some very telling ideas, which they ultimately acted on. I work with idiots is one thing to post, I want to kill everyone at work is a terrifying posting, and perhaps one that needs to be looked into. If I worked at a place where someone was posting wanting to commit workplace violence, I sure would want that person looked at very closely.
Kids don't know how much youthful indiscretions can haunt them down the road. The young girls and the sexting craze sends shivers down my spine. They never consider they are going to grow up and this can, and probably will be, something they will regret in their adult work life. I can't even imagine being at work and having photos of you at 15 or 16 floating around the office.
