Article about facebook postings and getting fired.

I was reading the parameters for being fired for a Facebook posting. I don't do Facebook, but found it interesting anyway.

Well, I just read about the woman who was fired for posting something about the First Lady being a "gorilla".

I thought that was a pretty awful thing to post. Not because it was about the First Lady, but because I just hate mean posts about anybody.

I think the woman worked for a school district in the South.
The fired employee was a teacher's aid at a Georgia elementary school. She didn't make just one racist Facebook post, she made several. She repeatedly referred to Michelle Obama as "that poor Gorilla" in multiple posts.

Oh good lord. Why do people have to be so ugly in personality and insult others in such a manner?
You have hyperlink the articles in question------>Now do you feel better using the same phrase that the fired FBer used?angry smileyangry smiley Anything can be found on this internet thing, but to repeatedly used or post the article does not make you innocence of those insults. If it's said during someone's off-time and does not relate to their job, it shouldn't be relevant. I try to follow my mother's rule: Don't put anything in writing that you wouldn't want the whole world to see. When my son was applying for a scholarship, I dug up everything I could on him and had him remove what he could. You never know where someone falls on an issue. [www.cnet.com]

Now scheduling travel shops for the day after Christmas through mid-January.
I applied for a job a few years ago which wanted your Facebook access. I don't do Facebook, so that wasn't a problem. My problem was the idea that they could even request it. It is such a fine line in the current society with hate speech, and so many of the latest batch of crazies posting some very telling ideas, which they ultimately acted on. I work with idiots is one thing to post, I want to kill everyone at work is a terrifying posting, and perhaps one that needs to be looked into. If I worked at a place where someone was posting wanting to commit workplace violence, I sure would want that person looked at very closely.
Kids don't know how much youthful indiscretions can haunt them down the road. The young girls and the sexting craze sends shivers down my spine. They never consider they are going to grow up and this can, and probably will be, something they will regret in their adult work life. I can't even imagine being at work and having photos of you at 15 or 16 floating around the office.

It is definitely not just kids. The Weiner sexting scandal comes to mind.
I use my Facebook only for family and really close friends....no one else is allowed on. I am able to keep up with my daughters life, although she doesn't post personal things, I know she is fine. She is now in Vienna and Prague, and posting pictures of her trip, and I'm able to see her. I also have family scattered in 2 states and one other country. Facebook is a great tool used correctly. i do think they should tighten up and i guess that is what they are trying to do. Horrific having someone post lies or say vicious things about you. Internet bullying is against the law in many states due to deaths it has caused in young girls that have been bullied.
Those that get off on that kind of negativity need help (big time). Weiner is a sick man, but the majority are young kids that don't see the repercussion's of this, and think bullying is fun. The joke's on them.

Live consciously....
