Time to fess up...

Many of you posted your New Year's resolutions a few weeks ago. We are halfway through the first month of the year. How many of you have already broken those resolutions? I know of one forum member so far.

I didn't make any goals or resolutions, but over the past week jobs have just fallen into my lap that I didn't have to look for, and my husband bought me a new car.

Edited to add that I didn't ask for it. Actually he wanted to buy me one that was more expensive than the one I wanted and eventually settled upon. What in the world is up with that?

I tend to make goals on a regular basis, but not New Year's resolutions. It is more useful to have ongoing goals then add or reevaluate them as the need arises.

I have not had any time for painting. I have been reading and pondering. Two out of three means... I win! grinning smiley

No soda for 2017, which is so hard because I love the taste of regular Pepsi and so many shops come with free drinks! But I've kept at it with only sweet tea and lemonade when I am to order a drink. I'm sure its just as sugary, but at least the soda chemicals aren't being consumed. I'm pretty proud of myself!!!

Sweet tea and lemonade aren't keeping you from any chemicals. Most of the time those are made using high fructose corn syrup and lord knows what else.

Baby steps, as I know you are right. I drink water 100% of the time at home. Will eventually get there when dining out as well.

What a friend of mine does is carry one of those tiny squirt bottles of water flavourings and uses that. It's just as expensive as buying pop here but it's zero calories and not carbonated. That might work as an intermediate step for you as well.
Fresh natural (even organic) fruit would be a better alternative to add to water than something with chemicals in it. Zero calories or not.

Personally, I do not like carbonation but there are machines or tools to add carbonation to water and other drinks if one prefers.
Yum...my favorite is pineapple and lime

I've been jump roping for a couple months now. I recently got a speed rope and I'm getting the hang of the double unders. It's much more fun than boring treadmills and ellipticals.

Here;s your new goal, DavePi. Learn to jump rope on the treadmill. Once you accomplish that goal, learn to jump rope on the elliptical. Now that is what I call a good workout.
It took a month, but yeah; I messed up.

Live your life in such a way that when your feet hit the floor in the morning; the devil shudders...And yells OH #%*+! SHE'S AWAKE!
We won't discuss how the workout ones have gone (by the wayside) but another resolution was to go "green" and really cut down on disposables and styrofoam. When I go out for dinner (shop or on my own dime) I bring a reusable bag with my own containers for leftovers. If I remember to bring them (about 80% of the time) I do use them. Plus I have glass straws at home, use towels instead of paper napkins or Bounty, cloth washable covers for my Swiffer and WetJat. I wish I had started using a DivaCup 30 years ago, but I think it's too late to teach this old dog new tricks as far as that goes.
