Fun Money

If you had some fun money to play with, would you rather go skydiving or hand feed sharks in the ocean?

Hmm. Neither! I would rather lay on a beach somewhere and watch the sharks from afar.
Shouldn't that be "feed hand to sharks" in the ocean? smiling smiley Skydiving scares me. I'll stick to parasailing. Love that.

Two of my least favorite things are a "would you rather" question? Sounds about right in everyday life for me. I don't like heights or flying, and I don't care a lot for water. Could I feel little sharks in a tank somewhere? If I had fun money, though, I'd take my honey to a nice warm beach with lots of hiking and biking and camping trails nearby.

Both sound like a form of punishment for me, but I'm afraid of heights and sharks scare the crap out of me, even when they're in tanks.

I'd love to travel somewhere with a great beach, a good book and plenty of cocktails.

I already do all of those activities on a regular basis when the weather permits. In winter, I snowboard and ski mainly. Tried cross-country skiing which is basically hiking on skis. Talk about a workout!

I don't really have any fears. I like to think outside the box. Skydiving is actually kinda normal. I've already done parasailing. I love repelling. I guess I don't have a fear of heights. winking smiley
Visit the St. Louis Zoo and you can pet the sharks and stingrays. You can't feed the sharks, just the rays on occasion.

I'd rather jump from a plane. I've bungee'd a few times. I find parasailing......pretty, but boring. Same with zip lining. I live for the adrenaline rush. Used to ski and shred, but it's just too much work anymore to get on the mountain. I've swam with the stingrays in the Caymens; right before what's his name was killed by one.

I'd go to a great Museum like the Louve in Paris, then a great gourmet dinner and drinks or lying on the beach with nothing to do but have a Mai Tai and watch the beach boys in Hawaii working on a tan. My Mother taught me to think big!!!!!

While not ideal, I am happy to support an institution that has been one of the best for decades and is devoted to wildlife preservation, conservation and education.

Skydiving, once you are out the door it is complete silence. Tuck your arms to your side with your fingers slightly cupped downward, put your legs together and point your toes. Before you know it the airport is a mile behind you. Drop your right shoulder and you are headed back.
My bucket list is getting smaller, i've done many things, but swimming with the Dolphins seems like fun.
When my daughter lived in London after college, I met her in Italy, went to Venice, Paris and took overnight train up the Swiss Alps.....hard to top that. Nowadays finding someone interesting to do anything with has become a challenge, I'm out living them all...sad smiley

I've done the shark thing. I am an avid scuba diver and I can tell you that sharks are highly misunderstood creatures.., thank you Shark Week. I'm not saying they are not unpredictable, but they are not the beasts some make them out to be. I'll do anything that involves the ocean... I'd like to sky dive, but it is not a priority.

I do miss snow skiing... so I am jealous Sybil, but I'll take Florida and not complain.
I love sharks. They are fascinating creatures. The Hammerheads are pretty freaky-looking though. I was going to be an oceanographer or marine biologist but science was not my strong point in school.

@Jk1nole, I have to travel to Florida a lot; sometimes for business, sometimes to visit my ailing grandmother. It is okay to visit but I would not want to live there year-round. Humidity sux!
I also, am an avid scuba diver. I have fed both sharks and stingrays. I think sharks are very misunderstood animals. Now, I wouldn't want to come face to face with a great white, but smaller species are okay. It's a totally different world when you are underwater. I wish I had the money and time to do more of it!
Yes, the humidity sucks. But, I am in the A/C most of the time during the week. Weekends I am boating, diving, fishing, and staying hydrated smiling smiley
I have little desire to do either. Most of my fun money is spent on events (sports or music) or places of historic or natural importance (importance being relative).

Neither. I would fund some world-changing thing such as additional trainings for people who have anything whatsoever to do with other people.

Recently, alleged professionals had the audacity to laugh at my mother, who was then expressing as a dementia patient. My sister, the primary caregiver, immediately removed Mom from that environment and hired "humbler" folks who understood how to give care to Mom at home.

I would forego fun forever, if necessary, to fund socialization and humanization of anyone, anywhere, who would dare to laugh at a dementia patient or anyone else who is perceived as challenged. Mom did not do that, and she did not deserve that.
