Do You Like Five Guys Burgers? (not a mystery shopping-related question)

Habit Burgers taste better than 5 guys. The prices are very reasonable. The Mcd's garlic fries tasted okay to me. Being in California, I had better. There's an annual Gilroy garlic festival in july. Talk about garlic fries! I believe that's where Mcd's got their inspiration. The Gott's Roadside makes awesome gourmet garlic fries.

@honny...The best I've ever had, they grind their own meat, using the best. You can order it medium rare, with FF burgers it's well only, Inn@Out can't hold a candle, but still love the company. I'd love to send a picture. Rustic.has everyone talking, their fries are the bomb.
Nowhere near FF, definitely raised the game. I'm in a Foodie group here with chefs and restaurant owners
that praise them. No one knows what I do, I've found some little gems of family owned places here, lotta fun,

I like their burgers and fries, but as many had said, I will not pay $12 for it. I don't mind doing the shop as the food is okay and I get a few $ after.
I like them pretty well. To me they are what they are. By that I mean they're a bit more expensive than a fast food burger and a bit tastier than a fast food burger. They are not a real "burger joint" burger in the same way that Papa John's isn't a real pizza.

I will usually bring my 11 year old daughter with me when I do a Five Guys shop. She likes the french fries and the soda and I order a grilled cheese sandwich. I wouldn't go to Five Guys unless it was for a shop.
5 guys is decent. I seem to have them available each week if I want. I went to one a few days ago and will go again. I won't be rich off them but my meal is paid for and I make a few bucks afterwards. Recently they've offered me bonuses for taking what must be hard ones to get filled.
Same here, 7star. I did a bonused one yesterday, so I got bacon on my cheeseburger. It was well worth going over the reimbursement!

I saw the bacon and it looked crispy and delicious. I would love to get it on my burger. But I'm trying to eat healthy and stay off the nitrates. Meanwhile I just had some Aldens Chocolate Chocolate Chip Ice Cream. I could eat the whole container.
I usually order a regular hamburger with a few toppings. Between the burger and Little Fries and soda, I'm full.
I have a question: are there any recent reviews that are posted in Five Guys restaurants? I have noticed that the reviews are from the early 2000's and 2011, or so. This is what I see in one location. Are there newer reviews in other locations?

What reviews are you referring to?

YELP or Google Reviews usually have more recent reviews.
On the interstate recently, I saw a Five Guys billboard, providing the exit number to the closest location. The image was a paper bag, complete with taped-on receipt, and a Five Guys drink cup, with a straw. There was not one single grease spot on the paper bag. Now, that never happens in real life or on a mystery shop, unless there is nothing in the paper bag.

Thank you. I will have to read some of those remarks. If any are sufficiently complimentary, or from sufficiently important people, Five Guys could post them in their restaurants. It just seems off-time, or something, to read older reviews of years' ago food while contemplating today's meal. smiling smiley

If we're talking about quick, cheap meals, I go elsewhere. But if I have genuine cravings for Five Guys? Not exactly, though I do like when I make a grilled cheeseburger. That's about it though.

A grilled cheese burger, or a grilled cheeseburger?

Grilled cheese with burger patties added.

I like that I can get my burger wrapped in lettuce or naked in a bowl. I haven't had a Five Guys bun in over a year.

I've been tempted to try these options. It would save me the trouble of having to come up with some 50 (or is it 100?) characters to describe the bun each time.

On another note...I do love the bacon.
I only SS them. I never "choose" them. I prefer Smashburger as they offer more variety and healither options such as grilled chicken and salads. Now...of course if we are talking Guy's Burgers from Carnival Cruise Line.... well now thats a different story!!

Funny, I was at a 5 Guys shop and every now and then I get that ole' feeling that the guidelines are going to make me look like a fool with my head shoved up the kitchen staff's you know what. Then, I go in to order and I see a woman doing exactly what the guidelines say to do. I'm thinking they sent two of us. Then, I get this overwhelming feeling of happiness because I realize she is just a customer checking out the process! I've had this realization before. Like when a customer was asking what kinds of vegetables she should serve on a platter in the produce department. I like flame grilled burgers, preferably on my lanai grill. However, every week, on a certain day, I don't have time to eat all day. That's the day I grab my 'free' burger shops. I know I'll be hungry enough to eat it.
I did a FG lunch shop today. It was my first meal since yesterday at lunch. Not a good idea!

Anyhoo, the staff did everything they were supposed to and the report was a breeze.

I did a Five Guys shop and tried adding more grilled veggies to my burger and it made a difference in taste.

I usually find the FG burger patties bland and not-seasoned enough to my liking. I usually get just a few toppings (like mushrooms, jalapeno, and onion), but this time I got:

lettuce, tomato, jalapenos, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, and grilled green pepper

mayo and ketchup

MMMmmmm, very tasty.

The loaded veggies really made a difference and I enjoyed my burger and wanted more for once! grinning smiley I usually just tolerate them for shops, but this time I liked mine. smiling smiley
I have another question. Do any Five Guys locations have drive-thru service?

Did you ask them to grill the green peppers? I thought they came raw.

I had a shop scheduled for today. My tastebuds were watering. I get there, and the location was closed for maintenance.

I was disappointed, but no worries. There was a Chipotle shop that I could do on the way home. I look at my clock and it was 1:57. The Chipotle shop closed at 2pm, and there was no way that I could make it.

I think so, HB. But I could be wrong.

It was interesting, because my cashier recommended the grilled veggies and he just listed them, along with other veggies. I thought about it and said something like: "Okay, I'll have them all." grinning smiley

I do believe the green peppers, mushrooms, and onions were all grilled. But the main thing was just loading the burger up with all those veggies I mentioned. I made it more flavorful, because for some reason the Five Guys burgers don't seem seasoned to me. They tend to be very bland.

In-N-Out's meat, on the other hand, seems seasoned if I'm not mistaken.

But I also learned the Five Guys' burgers are cooked fresh every day, so they don't have additives or preservatives in their burger meat. Maybe I'm so used to frozen meats with preservatives and additives that I can no longer tell what a fresh burger should taste like? smiling smiley Either way, they do seem bland, but with a loaded burger it became more flavorful to me and healthier too.

I've got a renewed outlook on FG now. Can't wait until my next shop!
I do not spend my money to eat at 5 Guys but I do all of the shops that I can. The milkshakes are divine!!! I want them to get more types of cheese (provolone, pepper jack, swiss, cheddar)and maybe multi grain buns. smiling smiley

I only had one shop that required a shake and I absolutely agree. It was amazing! Better than my burger, fries, and drink.
