$1Million flavor combo

Lay's contest for a new potato chip flavor ends on Saturday, 3/11. Have you entered yet? [www.dousaflavor.com]

You can also vote for the flavor submissions you like best. My money is on the Kangaroo Chip. It wins on name alone smiling smiley What do you think is in it? Vegemite? Kiwi? (I know kiwis are from New Zealand and kangaroos are from Australia, but close enough for snack food purposes.)

Well if the Kangaroo Chip is anything like a cow chip...

Cow chips....my mind didn't go there. I submitted 3 flavor combinations and just noticed that 2 of them were also submitted by other people. Back to the drawing board....

I always submit Peanut Butter and Bacon for the chips and $250,000 oatmeal contests. For some reason, it never wins.

How can PB and Bacon not be a winning combination? smiling smiley I wasn't aware of the oatmeal contest. I'll look for that one.

For the current chip content, folks are submitting combinations that won in earlier years. That makes no sense--unless the submitters are unaware that those flavors are already on store shelves.

The oatmeal one is by Quaker.

I used to be an engineer at a Hormel pork plant. The QA lab was an industrial kitchen that was fully stocked with pork products. One of the Food Chemists was looking for new oddball ideas and I was eating a Reece's Cup.

I found the oatmeal contest and the winning flavor combination sounds unappealing (apple, cheddar cheese, rosemary). I think the submitter won because of her back story (caring for her sick fiance who couldn't eat solid food-- yada yada yada) PB&B sounds much better! The voting must have been rigged smoking smiley
