Retiring from MS'ing/possible?

I am retiring(health problems), and keeping my four or so restaurants...question being, who has retired, and how do you get rid of the emails, short of logging on and disabling all of them.

I wish you the best ! Even though I've only been on the forum a short time, I've appreciated reading your posts.
Do you have a separate email for MS? If not, I'd check the box at the top of the mail to select all item then mark them all as Spam. Then I'd go back into my email and use the search bar unmarked anything important.

It's not the best way, but it would be the quickest way.
Marking emails as Spam is a terrible idea. The email providers track that type of thing which may then make it more difficult for other shoppers.

The only way is to either disable your accounts if you are sure you will not be shopping or change your profile to stop receiving emails.

I didn't want to think it had to be manuel, as I can't even remember all companies I signed with and haven't worked for. I am thinking of deleting my work email, except the few I want to keep will be in harms way. Have to give this serious thought, just went to Dr., looks serious, so maybe just deleting work email is what I'll have to do and changing the few I want to keep. I'm getting so many text's (Gap), very annoying when I say no, unable to work, and they get another scheduler to send same text....aging is NOT fun, enjoy yourselves while you can.....smiling smiley

I dont ever plan to retire. I dont believe i will ever have the $$ to do so.

Sorry to hear about your health.

As to the emails i currently have 190,000 unread emails growing all the time and no it doesn't include the spam folder... ignoring things gets easier with time

I tried a while back to look at some but could not so im not sure if they actually still exist...problem solves itself eventually

shopping north west PA and south west ny
Irene, sorry to hear that you're not feeling well. You should call it semi-retirement as you'll be keeping some of your favorite shops. I wish you the best.
Most emails have a "Click here." link (short cut to your profile.) near the bottom.

If you would like to stop receiving emails from ZZZ or wish to terminate our current relationship, please click here
Irene, i ditto what the others have said, sorry to hear about your health, I too have enjoyed reading your posts! I wish you the best, take care of yourself!
If a given company doesn't send out emails on a regular basis, I wouldn't worry about contacting them right away. Rather, I'd wait and do them piecemeal as they contacted you. Good luck.

Whatever you do, don't mark them as spam. Log into each MSC as they email you and either self-deactivate or change your preferences.

I only get emails from a handful of companies at a time even though I've signed up with (probably) over 100 by now (some of which I'm pretty sure are out of business).
You could start deactivating in much the way that you signed up...a few at a time. You also could create a new email address for shopping and change your profile with the companies you want to keep shopping for. I'm really, really sorry to hear that you are sick.

Hey everybody, just because Irene is retiring from shopping doesn't mean she has to retire from the forum!

Thanks, I pop in now and then and enjoy everyone's posts, just had to stop driving the freeways due to vision problems.

Depending on how healthy the rest of your body is, if you are in a city maybe you could do shops accessible via public transit, or failing that shops close enough to you that you don't need to get on the freeway?
Could you do some phone shops? Or those web inquiry shops? Perhaps when you update your preferences, include phone shops only. Sorry to hear about your health issues but hope that things will work out.

I am still able to drive in my town, and do a few phone jobs here and there. Just can't concentrate until I
see this specialist and do the tests....and i'm very tired. Doing my bar audit this month, as for actually work, nope.

There are definitely some services out there to snoop your inbox and all you to kick everyone out all at once but they probably sell you data to someone else somehow or another...Google a little and see what's what (-: Best of luck.

I hope you feel better Irene. I enjoy reading your posts. Keep posting! I can't think of a quick way to stop the emails but as one poster above advised, just open them up as you receive them and unsubscribe
Hope all will be well with you Irene. Like other said, I hope you keep posting. Insight from good shoppers is always valuable.I haven't been on the board all that long myself, but your name is one I recognize and am sure to read your posts on almost every topic.

You might consider creating a new email account and for the four or so you want to keep switching the email address you have on file to that account, at least that will keep those separate while you eventually deactivate the emails from the others.

I admire your plan to continue with what provides the most pleasure to you while taking good care of yourself.

Based in MD, near DC
Shopping from the Carolinas to New York
Have video cam; will travel

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.

Hi Irene,
I'm one of the seniors myself. Hope all goes well with your eye sight. I've been shopping for about 11 years now. I shop mostly banks, a few restaurants and a few misc. shops. I figure I do not shop video or travel, I'll leave that to the young people. No reason why you can't contribute to the forum. My uncle retired at 94 from the police department in Oregon, he was the oldest police officer in the country. They kept him in his own office and he handled all volunteers. He was still getting paid $25 an hour and worked from 8 to noon.

Thanks for the encouragement....due to shopping I became very involved in food and belong to a "Foodies" group, helping new restaurants that open up here in my town. Really been fun, and will do all I can to enjoy my years, with my goal being do something fun everyday. I have to remember my age and not be hard on myself. I am aware of my situation, not driving freeways helps, and my town is growing, so, enjoying that.
