Eyeglasses

Does anyone know of a website offering free prescription eyeglasses? I need a pair (not reading glasses) to keep in the car.

There used to be a MSC scheduled by KSS that offered a shop to get prescription glasses as long as you had a prescription less than a year old, but I haven't seen it in a while. A family member has purchased prescription glasses online at EyeBuyDirect.com and has been very happy with them and they were very reasonable. When you order from them, you do not need to present your prescription, you only need to put in the specifics from your most recent prescription.
Thanks rofl taco! I'll keep my eye out for the MSC. EyebuyDirect doesn't have any free Rx glasses.

I thought for a while you were referring to eyelashes. I can never apply those mascaras. winking smiley

I got one very upscale eyeglasses from a Beyond Hello shop, a while back. I don't know if they are doing them at all now.

Edited because I have to add that they were not fully reimbursed but I was happy with the glasses.

Mascara? I'm not following.

Years ago, I wanna say 2013 coastal.com was offering a free pair of prescription glasses or contact lens exclusive of shipping.

I have two pairs, great quality.
I need glasses too! I'm holding mine together with a paper clip that I sawed off. Then I went and dropped them on the concrete floor (garage) and they have a small crack right where my eye looks out. I have insurance, but they still end up costing me at least $250 out of pocket.

Shopping up and down the Colorado Rocky Mountain front range.

Sorry, I read your title as eyelashes. That's why I referred to mascara...

Goggles4u Eyeglasses has Prescription Eyeglasses on sale w/ prices starting from $1.05 after $5.90 off w/ discount code SLICKDEALS7. Shipping starts at $5.95. Thanks Major_Gatsby

Note, select any $6.95 frame w/ 1.57 CR39 Uncoated Lenses for the $1.05 price.

Low quality frames, but they'll work if you need spares and throw-away eyeglasses.

Shopping the Greater Denver Area, Colorado Springs and in-between in Colorado. 33 year old male and willing to travel!
eye, that was the first place I looked! They don't have that deal anymore.

Aww that sucks. I got a really nice pair of designer and regular ones too.

Have you checked groupon? You may not get a free pair but you'll get a really good deal.
My insurance covers either glasses or contacts. My eye doc said that my eyeglass prescription didn't change, so I am fine with those. These are to go over my contacts to make my vision crisp when I drive. I don't mind a cheap pair to keep in my car. The insurance will pay for the contacts.

No offense, honnybrown but are you willing to buy prescription glasses through a website without trying them on? For me, I would have a hard time to fit a suitable frame for my fat, rounded asian face with a small nose bridge. And not to mention my strong prescription to find a frame that would accommodate for that. Don't want a too small sized shaped frame to make my face look fatter or a too large frame where the length of the frame extended past my nose. Just saying.
Cat, no offense taken!

My regular eyeglasses were fitted properly by the optician. I use those when I don't wear my contacts, usually on the weekends.

The glasses I am referring to here are just to wear over my contact lenses while driving.

Instead of getting contacts that would give me crisp distance views and the need for reading glasses, I opted for the near/far contacts that don't give me the crisp distance, but I can read small print. To address the fuzzy distance, my OD prescribed glasses to keep in the car.

If you have a membership at costco or knows someone who does, they have a $40 discount off frames right now at their optical dept. It's an instant savings discount that is good until mid April. Have you thought about doing eye exercises to help improve your eyesight? I'm been doing them on and off for years. My goal is to prevent my prescription from getting stronger. My current prescription is -8.50 and -9.00 and have been about the same for the last 6 years. And I don't want to wear bifocals. I used to do them faithfully when in my early 20's and it did improve some but not enough to be free of glasses. The eye exercises I was referring to was based upon the Dr. William Bates method.
cat, I went to Costco for my eyeglasses a few years ago when my union paid for them. I got a stylish pair of Kenneth Cole frames with the high end lenses. The day after the warranty expired, the plastic on the nosepiece blistered. No more Costco Optical, ever.

I do eye exercises because my eye doctor said I had a lazy eye. The exercises fixed the lazy eye. I didn't realize they helped for vision. Over the years, my vision went from -7.5,-7.0 to -6.5, -4.75. They obviously work!

The Lions Club in most or all of it's locations will give a certificate for free glasses based on need. Each optical store that participates has a lot of choices of frames. www.lionsclubs.org Vision USA will help you with an eye exam. You apply, meet criteria, and they will give you a certificate that you can take to a local eye doctor for an eye exam for you or your child. Also you can contact www.neweyesfortheneedy.org and they will help with eye exams and glasses, but this will have to be signed by a social worker with a real ID number. I hope this helps someone. Love to all, Night Owl at 11:37 pm
Thanks anne. I'm not need based.

Bump!

Hey, I saw this posted somewhere else and thought of this thread:

Free prescription eyeglasses for new customers only, you just pay shipping!
Thanks eye!

I've been to that site. They are fee heavy, and the free glasses cost a rusty penny.
