Economy picking up?

I had a recent incident that caused me to contact the director of transportation of the local school district. He explained to me they were having a very difficult time finding drivers now that the economy has picked up, and the district was investigating higher wages and better benefits for the next school year. I can see it myself. My work level has increased in the past few years as well as my wages. I've noticed more and more shop requests staying on the boards longer and longer. I wonder if the MSC are starting to have the same problems as the transportation department at my local school district. Maybe they'll start upping those shop fees.

Many people who had stopped looking for regular employment are returning to the labor force because there are more jobs available. This has been happening for quite some time, and they must be finding work, otherwise the unemployment rate would not keep going down. Many areas are having labor shortages, but not all. We are starting to see earned income/wages creep up as a result. (Source: Bureau of Labor Statistics, U.S.D.O.L.)

Actually I'm seeing many bubbles that are getting ready to pop at any time now. IMO we are at the edge of a cliff.
Coincidental to this topic...2 colleagues at my FT job announced today they accepted promotions with other organizations. Maybe jobs are becoming more available.
Chris,
Yes, labor force surveys are seeing an upswing in voluntary departures among prime age workers. Historically, that correlates very strongly with "moving out and up!"

I hope so. My concern, though, is that a lot of local stores are closing up. We are shifting to an online nation. I wonder how that will affect mystery shopping.
We had zillions of shoppers popping up in my town, now, not so much. I'm given restaurants and there lifting the 3 months, did one 2 weeks ago, gave me a bonus to do it again today (my favorite). I have been and continue to morn the loss of my upscale retail shops, and stores closing, that has to effect shoppers as online shopping takes over. The mall is still packed, but few are shopped here in my mall....as they lay off more, not much need to evaluate what's left, they don't seem to care about service, just have more and more sales and you basically help yourself. Just my opinion.

Live consciously....
I wonder if the closure of many stores will right-size cumbersome businesses. Will businesses find a balance of in-store and remote transactions?
