Moe's wins best fast casual Mexican eatery

Moe's surprisingly just beat out Chipotle and Baja Grill, and not surprisingly, beat out Taco Bell. Baja Fresh Mexican Grill and Taco Bell also beat out Chipotle.

That's crazy. Moe's is not good at all. Qdoba and Chipotle are significantly better. Haven't had Baja Fresh but Taco Bell is NOT Fast Casual.

Baja Fresh is good, they grill, it's not really FF,but more quality and more expensive than say Taco bell.
I went online and Moe's "looked" good, but pictures and reality (taste)are two different things. Taco bell is definitely fast food at it's lowest!!

The food at the 2 local Moe's is just plain terrible! Baja Fresh is very good. Love Chipotle, of course.

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
Moe's gives free chips and salsa. Plus you get a free meal on your birthday if you sign up.

I always get the homewrecker burrito which comes with guac. Unlike Chipotle they are not stingy with the portion sizes. I do prefer Chipotle sofrita over their tofu but they have better drink options.

Are they shopped? There's a Moe's right by me.

If I had to rank it would follow:

California Tortilla
Qdoba
Chipotle/Moe's
Baja Fresh- to be fair, I've only had them in the malls, their rice was always hard and dry.
This is the second year in a row that Moe's has topped the list. With Taco Bell also beating Chipotle, it seems clear that it hasn't recovered from that nasty eColi event.
Every restaurant I have rewards with gives a free B-day meal, and Red Robin that I shop sends email coupons buy one, get one free, as does Lucille's BBQ, yes, these are more upper scale than a taco bell, so comparison is not fair. Taco bell seems to be doing serious marketing, but where do they get their meat?. Beating Chipotle doesn't seem right, and yes, Chipotle hasn't fully recovered, they are a fresher healthier way to eat Mexican food. Here in L.A. being close to the border, we have an abundance of great Mexican food and great food trucks serving the best. Taking a survey about good Mexican restaurants in L.A. taco bell would NOT be on the list.

To me Moe's is tasteless compared to the others.

I never ate at Moe's. There is a California Tortilla close to where I live and where I work. There's no need to go elsewhere unless I'm doing a shop.

I did see Moe's on some job board a while back.

On their very best day, my opinion is that all the contenders are merely okay. I'll even throw Salsarita's in the mix.

I give a ever-so-slight nudge to Moe's for free chips and salsa - whether a basket or bag, or two. . .

A fun tidbit in the article that roflwofl referenced - Moe's stands for Musicians, Outlaws, and Entertainers.
An MSC who frequents this forum used to have Moe's shops. Not sure if they still do. I've never eaten at Moe's. I went there with the intention of getting something, but decided I hated their naming conventions and left without getting anything. Not that I'm persnickety. smiling smiley

I'm with HonnyB. California Tortilla is great. Also like Baja, Qdoba, and Chipotle. Baja gives free chips, too, I believe.
Don't know if it's standard but we're always given free chip at the three different Baja Fresh locations we frequent.
Chris, the last time I shopped California Tortilla, I got an additional taco. I finally tried the Korean BBQ Street Taco, and it was delicious! The MSC reimbursed me for my entire meal, too.

I'm a fan of Cali Tort and the MSC. The Korean BBQ taco is sooo good. They have some unusual combinations of flavors, and I get a different one each time. They've all been good.
I am not surprised they beat Taco Bell. I never eat their food. cheap.... cheap.... cheap...fat....fat....fat.>Just my opinion. I never tried Moe's. I will now. smiling smiley

I'm not surprised Moe's beat out Taco Bell, but I'm REALLY REALLY surprised that Taco Bell beat out Chipotle. Moe's was #1 in the category, Taco Bell was #2, and Chipotle was #3 in the "fast-casual Mexican category." Wow.
I haven't had taco bell in a long time but they do a lot of advertising and are creative with new products coming out. They also offer cheap eats and specials at times, so i think people remember and like that. Chipotle is kinda like the old and boring. It is much healthier than the others as they offer antibiotic free choices and non gmo.

They're pretty good, imo.

Generous proportions from what I last recall (been years, lol).
I don't like Moe's. All the food tastes bland to me. I actually like the Chalupa at Taco Bell! smiling smiley I tried Chipotle once and thought the food was too hot tasting. tongue sticking out smiley
