I bought mine at the store like six months before the online ones took off. So I can't help. But there are a zilllion reviews online so you can read those. I'm interested too since they seem cheaper and better. I paid so much for my mattress and I still need one for the guest room.
which brand or type did u buy? I don't need cost. the salespeople push temperpedic & cooling gels but more $$$. salespeople want commission so i thought forum would be more honest.
I actually bought my mattress from Aldi. It was a queen size memory foam, very good quality. It was $200.

Buying online is great if you already know what you want. You tried it out at Macy's but didn't want to pay their sticker price.

Another good source is the Penny Saver. Ask the contact where the sets came from. They are usually department store rejects due to the fabric print.

I bought a gel/foam hybrid from Walmart.com, said it's listed price was $1800, and was on sale for $300. I am extremely happy with it 8 months later. Queen size, extra deep. Shop around, read reviews....
Check to see there not made in China...fillings are not great and can lead to Allergies. I did a mattress shop
and they are more expensive, but have sales all the time. Sears always has good prices.

does gel really make it cooler? or just hype.
Gel definitely makes them cooler.

Check with The Consumer Insight for their mattress shops. That's a great way to do research.

You are the only person who can decide about your mattress. I say, do mattress/bed shops and get body-on information. You can do this on your own time, too. You might find out if a particular feature is right/wrong for you. This information might guide your actual purchase.

This is my mattress and two places it can be purchased. I had credit available from WM so chose them. It is soooo comfy.
Ive done bunch if mattress shops. commissioned salespeople push temperpedic because usually most $$$. some push certain brand cause mattress brand gives employee incentives for pushing their brands. so i dont trust salespeople. pushing agjustable bases to.
I bought a firm memory foam on Ebay. You are supposed to lay on them if you don't know what type of mattress your body likes. The firm I bought ended up being a little too firm because I don't weigh very much and I was laying flat as a board on the mattress so I bought a down topper and now it feels like heaven. I would suggest going into a mattress store and just laying on their foams to see what your body likes. Normally about 15-20 minutes on a mattress and your body will let you know if it likes it or not because if you don't feel like staying still, it's not the right one for you and your body.
I've bought a few twin mattresses for our kids, I think from US Mattress or something. Not sure if we'll be buying our next one for us online though, there are so many places that sell mattress here and I'd rather feel what I'm getting.

No tax, bare minimum price, free shipping, free disposal of old mattress.

Got a premium, high coil count king mattress for $900 after taxes, shipping, etc., which would have cost $2,000 + taxes at a retailer.

On a shop we have to follow their lead and I know they push certain products. Go on your own time and check them out. What's important is your needs not the salesperson's opinion.

I don't know if this has changed over the years. At one point it was difficult to compare the same mattress at different retailers. The retailers had a deal where the names of each style were unique to that retailer. Talk about a pain in the.....back.

Did you check Consumer Reports? I'm not sure if mattresses are something they review, but it would be easy enough to find out. My library shelves the magazines in the reference section.
