My area has a fire in Castaic under control 60% as of now. 110% degree, hate the fires, we've had our share.

I'm in the Tucson area and fires haven't affected me, but the heat has. I had to turn down a few shops because they were outside. I would have to get paid quite a bit more than the $30.00 being offered to stand in a parking lot for an hour in 120 degree weather.
Had 122 degrees, here in the CA desert and it has not been fun at all. Hurts to even grasp the steering wheel.

I'm not running around town doing shops again until the heat slides down a bit to say the normals of 107F or 108F this time of year....the heat just takes far too much from me, and I'm not finding especially lucrative shops lately to justify dealing with the heat any more than I absolutely have to. (I live in Central Phoenix, BTW).

Can't imagine 122*, but even just 90* makes steering wheels too hot to handle. So, why do cars now come with heated steering wheels, but not cooled ones? There is such a thing as driving gloves in the winter, but I don't know of a hot weather equivalent.
Chris, when I lived in LA and we had record hot temperatures, it was a dry heat. My steering wheel cooled off when my car AC came on.

Here on the right coast, that chill doesn't leave in low temperatures when the car heats up. That's where the gloves come in.

ETA: I visited Arizona during monsoon season. I remember practically burning my hands on the steering wheel. That's when the cooled steering wheel would come in!

I think it 2012 the St. Louis area had an almost unheard of dry summer with low humidity. Our actual temps got as high as 108. It was hot, but I was amazed at the difference without the humidity. We frequently have temperatures in the 90's with high humidity pushing the heat indices near 110. Those are the miserable days when only soaking in the pool will do.

Mesa here. I'm happy to do restaurant, bank, and mall retail shops. Maybe some other indoor shops as long as they're not too far. I've thought about going up to Flag to escape the heat and might do shops up there. It's hard to get enthusiastic about doing much though.

Wow! I can't believe the temps out mid-west and west. I am in Massachusetts, we've had great weather. I live near the beaches. Just rain off and on which makes the flowers beautiful this year. I just viewed the Tall Ships Wednesday.
Double post.

I read that they've been grounding flights because of the extreme heat. The air density is too low (gas expands in heat) to get enough lift for the planes to safely take off! Crazy!

shopper8, my brother texted me pics of the ships when he was at the office on Tuesday. He works from home the other four days. With a view like that I would be going to the office every day.
