What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

Good job with the shoes!!!!!

I was equally fortunate, but in a different way. On the way to bonused shops, there was a detour. In the detour, there were adorable photogenic creatures. One of the herd turned tail; I have a great shot of him mooning this silly touron who dared to photograph his royal heininess. The rest of the herd sashayed here and there, and one of them looked into my eyes and gazed, as if to say, "Yeah, I know who you are. You are e pluribus unum touron and I am infinitely photogenic creature. You should pay me for looking like this."

That is the best of the best of the best in my world. I earned money, I saw critters, and I did these things in the wide open spaces. Such a deal!

I have a horrible time finding shoes, too. My heel is narrow compared to the front. I walk out of medium widths, but narrows are too tight across the forefoot. My brown leather walking shoes fell apart last week and I've been making the rounds of stores looking for just the right pair. I hope I have your luck soon!

Finally found some shoes!! I have needed new dress shoes for a few months....hubby gave me some money for Christmas to get some, because it's an ordeal for me to shop for them! I have a high instep, so I can't just buy anything. Plus, I need to stay away from narrow heels or heels higher than about 1 1/2", because of my back. So today I had the time, and actually found TWO PAIR of shoes at Shoe Carnival!! WOO-HOO! Happy shoe camper, here!

Grading tests..... Last week was finals week and I spent hours upon hours watching students take tests. Now, I must grade them....

Today, I was in the mood to clean my year old fridge. Since I could not put pressure on my knees, I lifted the glass shelving on the crispers. As I held it, it began to crash into smithereens. Thousands of little pieces of glass all over the kitchen. I almost cried. I was frustrated and in great pain from my posiiton. I blocked the kitchen from the cat and slowly cleaned the area while seated on a chair. It took me more than an hour. Has anyone have that kind of disastrous experience just cleaning the fridge? Today, I was happy to know I could get a replacement part and that there were others who also had that kind of disaster. What a relief!
I am dreaming of being able to walk again and be able to mystery shop without my walker.
What a horrible experience. I would have cried, no almost about it. I haven't had it happen but I always worry about it since I am a terrible clutz and I have glass shelving in mine too. I"m sorry that happened to you. I feel like you need a ((((hug)))) .
Will try to get that manicure that was supposed to happen days ago, on the way back from the first shop of the new month. Otherwise figuring out routing for a ton of Feb shops, and deep conditioning for my hair.

Thanks for your kind words and thoughts, CoffeeQueen, walesmaven and kimmimae. It's nice to think of it as just an accident but the time it happened, I just felt like walking out of the house, and then I remembered I had to get my walker. lol

Today I decided to shred all the documents that my late husband left in his cabinets. He had a business and the materials did not concern me. But because he was an artist, I had to keep his paintings and artworks. I had already shredded all my own papers.

Gee, I really miss mshopping. I had only completed two since my accident in September. They were done this January and payments were already on my Paypal.

I have to try freezing the bananas.
Hugs to you risinghorizon!!! I think I missed the part about the bananas - are you freezing them to use in smoothies? Or have you ever tried to make "ice cream" out of them?

I never had a disaster cleaning the fridge but.....

I had an operation on my foot once that required me to be on crutches. I kept getting my thumbs stuck in the side pockets of my pants and tripping myself. Fast forward a few years and the day after Christmas one year I fell and broke my ankle. I opted to borrow my mother's walker because of the bad experiences with crutches. One night I abandoned the walker and stood at the kitchen table kneeling on a pillow on a chair cutting up vegetables. I got tired standing so I sat down on the chair with the pillow. I needed something out of the fridge so I conveniently swiveled toward (I was sitting on a pillow so it made it super easy). I reached too far over to get something from the fridge and the pillow (and me) slid off the chair onto the floor.
Note to anyone reading this: Don't ever, ever, EVER think it's a good idea to swivel on a wooden chair with a fluffy pillow on it!

Kimmimae,it was from your post about frozen bananas. My officemate ate it straight from the freezer and she looked as if she was in heaven. lol

Oh my! That's what happened to me when I fell asleep in front of my PC. I was sitting in a rolling chair with pillow and hit the right side of my face, especially my eye. So now I am sporting a real black eye and it looks terrible. But some make up helped, not much.

I have to go back to your post so I will know what to do with the frozen bananas.

Oh, OK. Duh. I forgot about the frozen bananas. Oh boy. This was my first night back at work. About 3 weeks ago I hit the back of my head on a metal grating and doc thinks I gave myself a concussion. I was more worried about my neck since I have chronic neck pain and get headaches from my neck. Didn't think one could get a concussion if they didn't have a brain...lol. Anyway, I was having slight memory problems but all is good now. I didn't knock any sense into me if anyone was wondering.

Kim
I am sorry to hear about your accident. I am glad you're fine now. Concussions can have an after effect.

I did not do much today but damage my shredder. I spent so much time trying to get it to work again.
First the fridge, now the shredder. What did they do to you? lol. Just kidding. Ugh. I hate it when you set aside time to accomplish something, things are looking good and then something goes wrong.

My accident could have been worse so I'm not complaining - just thankful that it wasn't.

The low-cost shredders we buy seem to last about five years before they give out. I go to the store to buy a new one, determined to get better quality this time. Then I see the prices and end up with another low-cost model and the cycle continues.

My little shredders were short-lived. The one that cost as much as five little ones combined has lasted longer than the five cheapies combined, and it is still going strong.

The early morning job was delayed. That will now happen at brunch time. I would rather go out for brunch. Oh, well. I used the free time well. I slept, worked at home, and contemplated the meaning of life. After that job, I will clean the car and then come home and do... you guessed it... more work. Yawn,

Picked up car got my new spanking timing belt, runs great. Home going to pool, 85% gorgeous, winter, what's that? Thinking of New Moon for a Sat. nite Cosmo, if I can get myself dressed.....getting way too comfortable lounging around.

I couldn't sleep, so I found a new siggy. I like it. It seems impossible. But I will give it a try. At worst, I will be speechless.

Funny thing was that shredder was very popular that I got one of the last two. It was a Boxing Day Sale. My son told me I was rushing and part of the machine was jammed. One side is working but the other is not. I've really worked it continuously and the amount of materials I have discarded more than compensated for the price. It wasn't really a cheapy and I've researched for it. It was my fault.

Today, I did a lot of eating at a birthday party and then came home to bake some dessert for our "Fine Dining" church activities which involve the three meals after the masses. I will have to wake up very early for choir and mass.
My shredder started having the same problem a couple of months ago while I was doing a lot of document purging. I ended up take a large stack to FedEX office. It was worth the money because it was paperwork from clients of my former business so it included way too much sensitive data for me to take a chance. I was even concerned about taking it to a third party. FedEX was great because they let me watch while it was all shredded. If I remember correctly, the stack was the equivalent of several reams of paper, and cost around ten bucks.

Free days until Wed. then too much for me who is is the process of retiring. Relaxing, computer fun, T.V. Monday is crapola day on T.V. with The BAchelor on tonight, Ari is cute, hope he picks the "right one'. ..this is a two hour process, no phone calls please. I have a daughter for him but he has his hands full. Have really been enjoying my time at home, no complaints yet......

I have a friend who does this and it's a remarkable practice. She has a notebook and writes things down in it to focus on the positives of the people in her life. Whenever she catches herself having negative thoughts she writes down positive lists of things about them in her notebook. I think it's a cool way to be.

I work with my kids this morning b, then I went to Dietician to work on keeping my sugar levels in good range , now I am having lunch out with my husband. The home to get ready for Bible study tonight
I'm making bread chips from Panera's baguette. I had Panera's panini bread for my lunch sandwich of slices of turkey, cottage cheese and fresh spinach leaves. I am continuing my clean up of my drawers and not thinking of mshopping.
I did a senior residence shop, then did some shopping for fun on the way home. In between sections of the report I did some cooking.

Making remarkable progress in the @#^$ project. Huzzah! Mind you, I am working off my intense alarm regarding Oregon and its "rights" to kill people. Why the unprintable didn't they just understand that people can live, assisted, until they die? Oh, yeah, it is all about money. One way or another, it is the money. GAAAAHHHH! Fortunately, cogent arguments and explanations are made elsewhere, and I will just work this out on my project. The next thing to do, of course, is to find my place, even if that means dusting off ancient credentials and using them for the good of people and not for the death of them.

In order to avoid becoming political, I would like to add that I looked at my pics of the critters who blessed my shopping day recently. They are beautiful! Wonderful! Brilliant, in their instinctive creature way. I hope that everyone finds something good in their day.
