If I were a school kid, I might be ecstatic. I am a getting-older lady who merely thinks this is welcome. I got up at 5 am (downright slothful, sinful, and undoubtedly otherwise terrible) and have finished an extensive workout and cleaned one room. This is a good thing.
I have a book to finish, another room to clean, a phone call to make to find out if I could possibly complete Monday's planned shop on one of the other days in the range, and time just to think.
btw, it is Pi day. Many places are offering free pie for Pi day, and we should salute DavePi.

I found a renter for my spare room. He currently rents a room close by and he needs to move (the house where he is currently renting gained three extra renters). He works in DC and goes home to North Carolina on weekends.
I have had some interesting characters!
A woman with a kid. When I told her it was for 1 person, she accused me of trying to "hook up."
A woman and her 7 cats. No response from me.
A man who made it quite clear that he would only use the room for his extramarital activities. No response from me.
A lot of couples.

Recovering from the Colorado storm. It wasn't that bad, actually (coming from someone who has lived in the mountains for most of my life)
It's just that there are so many drivers who don't know how to drive in the snow. One example is the driver who hit a state trooper while driving down the ice rink that was the highway at over 65 mph....
Aside from that, just trying to get moved into a new house....don't have curtains yet and that is bothersome to me.

We own a duplex and lease out the other half. We have found paying a little bit of money to do professional background checks VERY helpful.
This math teacher is not at school for Pi Day..... Day 5 of the cold - officially diagnosed as the vague "Acute Bronchitis." I have five prescriptions for it... I think I'll make it back to work tomorrow....

No worries. There is a reason I've barely left the house the last five days - and had too much time to visit the forum. I'm on antibiotics, codeine-laced cough syrup, another prescription cough suppressant, steriods, and an albuterol inhaler. We are treating this aggressively. My primary concern (other than feeling like garbage) is that I have had cough syncope in the past and have to consider myself prone to it. (Coughing violently to the point of passing out.) I don't dare drive until my cough is under control. I'll be fine. The narcotics and steroids are doing their jobs making me more comfortable. It's just a matter of time before I feel the benefits of the antibiotics.

I went skiing in Park City with some friends from LA. We were returning to the condos after a full day in the snow. There was light snow and the windshield was iced over. The driver was trying to use the windshield wipers to remove the ice from the windshield of the rental car. I told him to use the ice scraper. He looks at the controls on the dashboard. In my "oh, what a moron" voice, I said, "It's in the glove compartment."
Someone in the backseat, in her best "oh, what a moron" voice said, "How would we know that?"

Honny. Your experience with prospective housemates made me smile. It is a game that requires patience and I see that it paid off for you. It doesn't get much better than a part time housemate who pays full rent. I have had housemates since I moved to the DC area in 1980, so I have met my share of dingbats and wingnuts when interviewing prospects.

OMG honny,,,I am laughing so hard, keep notes for the book you will someday write, and what have you against cats...lol Returned from my day, one bank the Banker had strep throat with no one from Merrill Lynch showing up, did other bank, simple and had a terrific lunch with my best of best friends, going on 30 years......we're not only in the same book, we're on the same page, doesn't happen but once in life...she worked for my ex, so knows way too much, have to keep her close to me....

After days of searching, I finally found the elusive Shingrix vaccine. The pharmacy tech told me the store doled them out first come first served, and they had one dose left. SCORE! However, several hours later my arm hurts like heck. Hope the soreness doesn't last long.

Before I was married, I had room mates. They paid my mortgage and allowed me to get a second house that was an investment property. Good deal, imo
Since I've been married and had kids, we've also had room mates on occasion. Right now, we have one who moved from our old house to this one with us. He's been a room mate for over a year and goes out of town every Fri, Sat, Sun. It's a good deal for us. But we do background checks on all potential room mates, my husb is a cop, and we have cameras. I also have a strict lease.

I think I wrote about it, but, for the first time in my long history, I decided to rent my extra bedroom/bath and got so lucky. Celebrated first year, and it works because our hours work. I leave house at 9ish, he leaves for work at 8:00 and doesn't return till 11:00. Saturdays he takes his daughters to Big Bear, so, he (literally) is never here, and when he is, he is respectful, clean and a sweet guy. He has never been in my kitchen, don't you love when that happens? We went month to month so if it didn't work, there was an out for either of us. I had interviewed a woman not working and wanted to cook for me...oh no, my worst nightmare. Always check their work, and last place they lived. My tenant was getting a divorce and just wanted a place to sleep and be near his kids. Men (for me) seem easier. First roommate successful, but I am a good judge of character.

Funny story, when married we owned property, one a three apt. duplex and two homes....the home around the corner from where we lived had two "play boys" in it who were making too much noise, many complaints, so after many eviction notices to no end, my ex got up at two in the morning, took the front door off, and shut down the air conditioning, summer time in L.A. They moved that weekend......great memory, and yes, sometime one loser will sneak in....

Day 12 recovering from Bronchitis for DH. DD has a mild cough too. She's already missed school for several days now. I recovered last week. March has been a miserable month despite being our anniversary and DD's bday month. I was in bed on meds on our anniversary. We just somehow managed to host DD's bday party last Sunday at the Rec Center.
I found out today that one of the gas stations I shop on a regular basis is at the wrong location. Go figure.
I got a ding from a new MSC last month because the address on the receipt did not match the address in the shop. The station I'm doing tomorrow is one that I shop for a different MSC (MSC 2). I GPSed the station for tomorrow because the address is unfamiliar. I look at the map, and it's the same location as MSC 2.
I map the address for the station at MSC2, and it's a good 5 miles away.

Now, after a long nap, I am wide awake and playing on the forum. I should have stayed asleep until morning, but I had to do errands. I just had to put money in the bank. This is much more fun than tapping a phone and making a transfer. This was real money! I just make fun of the times, from time to time, so in all seriousness, I did well today. I have established my savings goal, am meeting it, and am celebrating in a non-spending ways. This is amazing considering that I have not worked at one of the jobs for awhile and will not return to it for awhile. I think it is just a matter of deciding that Savings Will Accrue And That Is That. Hah! !

It's taking a lot longer to get settled that I wanted it to take. I guess I need to give myself a break: it's only been 2 weeks; but last time I moved, the house was completely "done," with pictures on the walls, curtains hung, and all throw rugs in place within a month. I feel like I'm very far from that....

I remember one time I moved from an apt to another 2 floorsbelow me. It took 24 hours and it was the worse move I've ever had. I totally underestimated how 'easy' the move would be.
Pooped. Work, extra work, more extra work. numerous tasks & endless errands. Bleh.

After my late nap I went to the store to pick up some vegetable seeds and a starter kit. I was motivated since my windowsill salad plants are doing so well. I looked at the starter kit while waiting in line. I put it back.
When I came home, I took a used K-Cup from the Keurig and cleaned it out. I filled it with dirt from the windowsill salad kit, and planted tomato seeds.
