What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

Someone dropped a bunch of feral cats off on our street. Ann caught one in the live trap and I took it to the animal shelter. They have a TNR program where they utilize barns in the area. I just had lunch and next I guess is dishes, floors, laundry, vacuuming. All the stuff that never goes away.

I helped my church out today with the Ashes On The Go program. We were in a high foot traffic area in a business district. I met the mayor of my town.

I did a Freecycle pickup today. A bunch of various packs of vegetable and herb seeds and 6" flower pots. I put the summer eggplant seeds in the windowsill along with bell peppers and tomatoes.

Ash Wednesday Mass, then the gym. Ran a couple of errands, then lost all ambition when I got home and did nothing productive for the rest of the day.

Oh no! Here's hoping you don't have to have a new one. I hate setting up a new computer. My current lappy is 4 years old but seems to be going strong.
Simplistic day: work, nap, assorted household errands... Aaaaahhhhhhhhhh......... smiling smiley

I seem to now have it under control. I really do not want to move to a Win 10 laptop!

Used my one shop in a part of town I don't get to often as an excuse to pop into stores I don't get to often. Found a colander on half price clearance at Crate and Barrel. It had a tiny dent on one side, but it will be so much better than the one I have now. I also got some baskets I've been looking all over town for at the Container Shop. If I included all my browsing in my hourly rate for today the result wouldn't be pretty, but I had fun.

Kathy, I needed a good quality shower curtain liner for my master bath. I got one at a bonused Crate & Barrel shop a few weeks ago. Half of the fee + bonus + reimbursement went to the shower curtain, and the other half will go into my bank account.

wales, Windows 10 is seamless. The only issue I had was not being able to use an Ad Block in MS Edge. I use FireFox or Chrome, so all is well.

When Windows 10 pushed to my Windows 8 laptop, everything looked and functioned the same, with the exception of the search bar. It was a change, but an easy one.

The windows convo prompted me to think up a new 'today's trivia' and I wondered: how many versions and upgrades of windows, browsers, etc. have there been since the dawning of the age of personal computing time? 'Desk Set' was a clever lead-in from movie world, but how did these transformations play out in real lives and real work places?

Honey, my desk top is customized to look and work like an ever earlier version than Win 8. I may need to seek professional help if moving to 10. Hmmm, will I need a computer geek or a shrink ? That is the question.

I hated losing windows 7 and I still think of it fondly. I have adapted to 10 but would go back to 7 in a heartbeat. I'm seriously considering going to a chromebook instead of ANY windows next time I need a laptop.
I treated myself to Olive Garden for lunch. I had a delicious creamy mushroom ravioli and a dirty martini.

And I ate all of it!

After I was told I would no longer get support for Windows 7 on my HP desktop that I have had forever, I upgraded it with a free download of 10 (do not pay for it if you do it). I HATED it. The functionality went to crap, my graphics were horrible and my printer didn't want to have anything to do with it. No matter how many things I did (removing drivers and reinstalling, plugging in using a USB, etc.) my very nice Brother printer said NOPE. So I removed 10 (thank goodness it was free) and reinstalled 7 again. Apparently older computers don't do well with the upgrade, if you have to have 10 it's better to get a new computer with it preinstalled. I am sure I could adapt but I don't want to, I like my old HP and Windows 7 just fine. Yeah, I won't get updates anymore, but I don't care. I am quite happy. I have good antivirus software so I should be fine.

Here's a link to a forum thread discussion about this from a few months ago. Additionally, if you do decide you want to try Windows 10, I can send you a link to a free download for it.
Today was a Goodwill Meetup that I do monthly. As usual, they opened the store an hour early for us. They had breakfast, extra racks of items and personal shoppers were available. I bought some much needed t-shirts, a few sweaters and a lovely jacket. I also bought some dishes. The meetup coordinator gave us a coupon for 50% off.

Now, homework until tomorrow.

The really, really late job, I mean the 'it was supposed to be the early' job, ate up the morning and gave me a necessary reason to whack my task list. I do not have time for all those things! Hah! As it turns out, there is just enough time to get few groceries and look into my recent book purchases. I love my new books!

Nail salon, find the elusive Girl Scout Lemonade Cookies, and an evening cruelty-free night market.
Listening to Canon in D. Waiting for allegedly early job. "Feeling" Spring in my bones. I think I might be a critter: my wild beloveds have been moving for weeks now, and they have no interest in a calendar date, either. When it is Spring, it is Spring!

No church today since homework is taking over.

Church brunch! What did you have?

Temperature was close to 60 today. Opened up the windows, then took a nice long walk. After looking at the 10-day forecast, decided to swap out the flannel sheets. (Hope that decision doesn't come back to haunt me.)

Just got back from snowshoeing at Mt. Rainier with my wife. It’s good to get out and away from things sometimes.

Chef made me a special meal, which was a giant salad of fresh fruits and veggies with a lemon and honey vinaigrette (I know honey is not vegan, but it's not the hill I'm going to die on). I had orange juice, as there was no non-dairy creamer.

The rest of the group had from what I saw: bacon, ham, eggs, fresh fruit, veggies, homemade biscuits, homemade pastries and homemade muffins. Coffee, soda, water and juice. There might have been another hot item? potatoes, french toast? Not sure.

Around 20 of us. Two of the sisters were there. I called one of the other sisters down afterwards from the convent. She finally "retired". I think she's about 75? She paints and makes jewelry and does the shopping for the "old" sisters in the convent. She's a hoot!

One of the ladies that works in the office made us goodie bags too. So cute. She gave us stuff with the church logo on it.
SCM, that sounds awesome! I'm happy you spent quality time with your sisters. That's always a good thing!

Watching the last episode of 'Love, Lies, and Records'. You might like it if you like Brit tv, activism, and the stuff of life. Then, it will be time for errands.
