What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

You all seem so busy. SoCalMama puts me to shame. After watching the cinnamon bun episode of Shitts Creek last night my goal for today is to make cinnamon buns and see how big I can get them. I usually make small ones so that the ratio of sugar and cinnamon is better. Also I shall work on organizing my bedroom and moving a dresser.

I reported them also.

I consider any processed, crunchy food that I eat directly out of the bag or box a snack food.

I finally got around to making my Spam Pilaf. I tried microwaving the brown rice and that didn't turn out well. The rice is cooking on the stove.

I'm assuming it's the same guy, but did you see the poster that asked why were his poems deleted? I tried to tactfully as possible tell him they are spam.

Wondering how 100 thread posts in an Asian language have remained up for so long. I reported 1 and explained there were multiples, how long before the mods seer them and remove? Why do you suppose someone did that?

The mods removed them. What a PITA that must have been.

My Spam pilaf turned out so good! The brown basmati rice is nice and fluffy. Since I had to double the rice, I need to add more vegetables and meat. It's very tasty.

No, it was someone different who posted in what I assume was Chinese (I don't know anything about the characters in Asian languages). Even the thread titles were Asian. There were literally 100 or more of them, seriously. The mods were on it this morning!

Last night the TV weather dudette promised partly cloudy and 60 degrees. Unfortunately, there's no sun visible and the temperature hasn't even gotten up to 50. Trying to decide whether to go out and take advantage of some weekend produce sales Fresh Thyme is running or bag it and go take a nap.

Does Fresh Thyme offer curbside pickup? We have one about 12 miles from my house. If I don't have to go inside, I might check it out.
I don't know. Maybe call them?

Last week I picked up a beautiful dish collection on Freecycle. Today I separated the chipped ones from the good ones and made space in my cabinets. I'm also going to clean up my coffee bar.

Work. Contemplate the meaning of help in the COVID-19 era. [We could not rush to a piercing scream for help during the early job because we are under orders to maintain at least six feet of space between us and others. We did not know what was happening in the dark and wee hours, so we drove to a potentially safer location and called for assistance. Even without COVID-19, we could do little because we were stymied by a vehicle that is set up for work and had no room to whisk someone away from danger. We did not have protective and defensive gear for ourselves or anyone else in the situation. Well, I have endless faith and my usual supply of work gloves. But these were not enough for someone else's potential emergency.] That was frustrating, and we hope that humans and any critters in that situation are alright. Try to focus on the days' task list.

*eta*
So much for the task list ... I am doing whatever is at hand and not too complicated. I should clarify that as far as we know, we are not sick with or carriers of the COVID-19. Since we are working as subs on Mondays, we do not know anything about the customers. We did not know whether the people with the chilling scream were vulnerable. We could not bring a risk to them. There. It has all been processed. Now, I can get back to the randomly performed rest of the day...

I went grocery shopping today. I mainly got produce and eggs.

I feel very lazy today, but I did cut and roast a Kabocha squash (Japanese pumpkin), then roasted the seeds to munch on. Otherwise, mindless reading and fiddling on the computer.

Cooked and froze a pound of bacon, reorganized some kitchen space, nap, admired housemate's garden work, play on computer.

Work, nap, organize seemingly endless stuff (i think it mutates overnight), watch 3rd Rock from the Sun, and do laundry.

Work. Quiet time. Clean out non-working car and arrange for it to go bye-bye.

searching for watermelon and pepper seeds online, bought new waterhose on Amazon, designing dream house. It's still early.
CQ, I saw an article somewhere on how to grow vegetables from your purchased produce in your windowsill (I am sure you can transplant to your garden after). It works. I had some green onions in my refrigerator and a head of green-leaf lettuce. I started saving the root portion of the green onion and keeping them in the refrigerator, then when I had several I took shot glasses and put a little water in each, and stuck the roots in. The green onions started growing. Soon I can just clip what I need from the tops for my salad. When I made a salad with that green leaf lettuce, I cut the bottom portion off as always, but instead of throwing it away, I stuck it in a rocks glass with about an inch of water. After a few days the leaves started growing. It doesn't have a root system yet, but when it does, I may transfer it to my garden. The article stated you just change out the water every 3-4 days and you can keep growing them continuously in the window. I might just keep it like that, it's pretty, and no bugs to worry about. I guess you can do it with carrots and other vegetables like that. I guess with a carrot you would need a narrow, taller glass eventually...

Going for a walk later with my sister (social distancing, of course).
Thanks! I tried early on (like a couple of years ago) but at that time the article I read had instructions for doing it in soil and it just didn't work for me. I would probably be a lot more successful with water. I am going to read and then try.
Unseasonably warm today, with high temperature about 90. HOWEVER, a cold front is coming through and it will be in the low 60s by bed time, so we didn't bother turning the air conditioner on. It's warm enough inside that all my energy has evaporated.

I went to a little local market that specializes in local fresh veggies and fruit, as well as garden supplies and plants. I brought home 4-6 packs of vinca and 4 of portulaca. They are out on the deck, where they will get some rain tonight and tomorrow. But, Friday will be dry and mild and I will get them planted then. I need more, but the market had just started getting flowering plants, so there was not much inventory.

They did have a ton of vegetable plants and marigolds.

We had a tornado last night about a mile south of my house. Tore up the golf course.

Walked for two miles with my sister down by the lake this afternoon. It was nice, sunny and about 68. Tomorrow is rain and a high of 50 with wind. No bueno.
JAS, that's how I grow my green onions. I haven't tried carrots yet.
