My department treated us all to lunch at a nearby restaurant (delivery). One employee tried to order a family platter that feeds 6-8 people. Luckily, it didn't go through.

I really hate when people try to take advantage.

Tacky & a good way to get fired.

Today - slept in late (I am usually up at 5 AM), quick trip to the market, pool, eBay, television.
Work (in few minutes) Repurpose/recycle boxes. Sort something, clean something, be grateful for something.

I am thawing out a turkey that is taking up much needed space in my freezer. So far, turkey salad and turkey casserole are on the menu.

Honny, The bones. neck and giblets will also make great soup/broth ! You can cook the bones with carrots, onion and celery. Then discard the "spent" veggies and the bones and boil the broth down until it is a serious concentrate. You can then use, or freeze the concentrate and make great turkey soup now and/or later.

I am going to wash the dirty clothes today since my washer went out a few days ago. At least I hope to go if it dosn't start raining or storming first. Cooking turkey sounds good. I have one in the freezer , its just so hot here I hate to light the oven for as long as it would take. Happy 4th to all.
My bank's on line deposit function picked a long holiday weekend to crash. After several failed tries at using it, I have added a stop at their ATM to my route of small errands: bank, groceries, wine, maybe mulch. At home: major kitchen clean-up after a 2 day cooking flurry; freezing small portions of entree items I have prepared. Finally, making that blueberry oatmeal crisp.

wales, I didn't plan the turkey very well. I have my dated veggies in the crock pot for stock, and the turkey will take 4 days to thaw. I may do a running water thaw since I am housebound today.

Assuming that it is not a huge bid, and that you roast it unstuffed, that should give you time to roast it. Also, of course, de-glaze the roasting pan to get all of the drippings. You can skim that fat off when the stock has been chilled before freezing it.

I never know how much experience someone has, so I may be preaching to the choir. No offence meant.

My Informed Delivery stopped after a year and a half. Some error on the USPS's side. They are closed, so I can't find out why.

I put the oregano cuttings in water, potted a spider plant cutting, and repotted 2 succulents.

I used the loose oregano leaves in my scrambled eggs this morning.

Watching these two food/restaurant channels. Lots of interesting stuff. Mashed is great.

wales, I am by far no turkey expert! Thanksgiving was my ex's favorite holiday, so I had my Mom on speed dial when I made it. Now, I just want to clear some space in my freezer. And find "flaming turkey wings" recipes.

these "Why [insert restaurant] is disappearing/struggling." episodes on Mashed are great!
Work. Clean my car & load it for all jobs tomorrow. If the hand/wrist is willing after all that, I can choose other little tasks. If not, I will read on the porch and listen to the birds.

Listening to birds. I should get off the couch and at least do that! Since I am obviously not emptying the camping trailer.
wales, I can roast it tomorrow sometime. I'm not sure if it will be before or after work. It's a 9 pound bird, so it will only take 3 hours. The most time intensive task will be pulling the meat!

While running my errands and doing my shops, I got a bunch of traffic tickets. That was not a good way to start the day, but I was due.

Work all day (and tomorrow and Wednesday). But what was I thinking?! It will be in the nineties then! The early job is cool and pleasant, when it is not downright frigid. This is a treat! Working when it is hot enough to melt me down to a puddle is... not the best planning. Oh, well. Payday will perk me back up again. grinning smiley

Over 100 everyday. I grilled on the 4th, kept the garden hose close by and kept getting my head wet. It does not get cooler until after 8:30pm and if there is no breeze it is awful.
Met my Census boss to get a set of paperwork. Came home and called the facility (a nursing home), only to be told that they sent in the information "months ago". Communicated back to boss and waiting for further instructions.

After all jobs were completed, I poured chilled water over myself, one pint at a time. This was effective.

I made it home just before the flash flood warning. I'm going to place the oregano cuttings outside.

I had to reschedule my storage facility shop for later in the week. It was in a mid-county area of the county where Honny lives in the southern area. Trees down, roads flooded, traffic lights not yet all restored.... all between me and that shop location. I love a good thunder storm as much as anyone, but this one was just a bit over-enthusiastic.

So... baking, making a meaty pasta sauce with hot Italian sausage, bed linens, laundry and, possibly, exploring a cooking-centered forum that several MS buddies have recommended.

I might be the dork of the day... yesterday, I discovered that my efficient little route included one city a hundred miles out of the loop. You see, it all started when I self-assigned for [street name]. Oh, it's perfect! I might pick up a few shops on the fly. I thought that until I found out that the city had the same name as the hoped-for street name location. *oops* The good news about the unexpected side trip is that I need only a few gazillion dollars more than I presently have in order to live in a very nice forested area near that location. Every time I am near there, I picture "my" road that winds gently off into the woods and at the end of which is my forest house which no one can see from the road and beyond which, in whatever direction, is a clean water stream.....

So this put me a day behind. Now, I have to fit laundry into nap time, cram reports into cleaning time, and re-schedule the next nap for Friday at the earliest.

SEL, whenever I have a route, there is always an outlier that negates my planned efficiency.

I have my oregano cuttings in a pint glass of water. They were looking wilty. I emptied the water from the glass and set it outside during the flash flood rain. The glass filled 1/3 with rain. I topped it off with tap water and placed it back in the windowsill.

I came home and the cuttings perked up and roots started coming out. The powers of rainwater!

Well, I've been without my internet for 2 days, and been using my phone's hotspot to connect. The AT&T fella came out this morning. Apparently the lightning storm we had a few days ago hit something in a box about half a mile away. He fixed it and I'm up and running on my regular internet service. Our phone is also UVerse, so we had no landline for a couple of days, which is OK with me. But I did get a credit on my bill for the 2 days we were without internet & phone, so that's cool.
Growing basil , cilantro, mint and celery. I see little sprouts coming up. It is getting hotter everyday.
My cucumber plant is flowering. The watermelon plant in the deep container is traveling. The basil is growing nice and full.

My tablet was delivered today, I think. I'm going to be useless for a few days.
