I've got the pumpkin pie in the oven and salsa is in frig. My fingers burn so the salsa should be good. I learned that adding cumin is great for salsa. I had expired pie crust so had to go to store
I also picked up a cute Christmas cactus for my friends!! Got to pack and get ready. smiling smiley
Thanksgiving prep today....got the chix thighs cooked to put into the homemade stuffing later on this afternoon. Making pumpkin and lemon meringue pies later. Tomorrow I'll get the turkey in the oven (small, 12 lb), cook mashed potatoes, green beans, cream corn, sweet potato casserole, and have the stuffing, cranberry sauce and olives/celery, with biscuits! Phew!
Work. Long nap. Slept through food prep time but woke up just in time to do three errands before the night job.

Burning fingers = great salsa!

I had to go grocery shopping today for items Aldi's didn't have. It wasn't the traumatic experience I expected since I could check out at customer service.

Teaching grade 2 for 2 weeks as teacher has to isolate. School suddenly needed 5 subs for 2:weeks.
I said what? Come all day every day? I don't do that anymore! If you can find anyone else!
Well now, for 2 weeks I do as they couldn't find anyone

My son and daughter in law are very good at many things, but their oldest child is strong willed and I'm getting frustrated watching him ruling the roost over food choices and activities. I spent all day biting my tongue, and at one point actually left the room.

Working tomorrow, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Triple time and a half for Thursday and Friday. Time and a half for the weekend.
Early work was early. The rest of the day is for working at home and napping. I have extra work tomorrow and next week in addition to the early job. These naps are wonderful!

@prince: I subbed for a short while, just to be certain that my fancy schmancy advanced ed degree was a mistake. It somewhat was a mistake. My coursework was perfect for me and it made me better. As a sub, I liked a few classes and classroom environments. Most of the time the sheer volume of kids, admin tasks, and other daily events was enervating for this sensitive soul (as defined by Elaine Aron). Only decades later did I find out why being a high-volume classroom teacher would never suit me. Anyway, in my imaginative way I send you all the energy you need to complete each day thoroughly and then shed it so you are fresh and new each morning. From this distance, I sense that you are a great teacher who would prefer less time in the role or more energy for the amount of time they might need you for awhile. ?

I'm catching up on new TV shows. I made my Stinky, I mean Puttanesca Salad. It tastes so darn good!

Up early & working on little tasks at home while waiting for the allegedly early job to begin. Due to a wee goof (it's a long story, and someday it will be hilarious) I had time to complete oodles of projects yesterday. That was fabulous!

I wonder if someone should start a thread about Black Friday, which actually started days ago... oh, why not. grinning smiley

I am just too old to have the energy to teach full time anymore. But, I still enjoy it.
I get what you mean Shop-et-al. so much to do in school besides teach.
One week down.

Right now, I am writing messages for my grandson's Advent boxes.

Any suggestions anyone? Things like "Make someone laugh by telling them a joke."

Ah. Now I get it. In the supply chain for the early job, someone walked off the job. Today, we are doing yesterday's work. Perhaps later today, we can do today's work.

I am really glad to be home from Thanksgiving visit with friends. I walked to the store and got a few things. Again, it's really good to be home ???? !smiling smiley

How about: "Smile often...it makes people wonder what you're up to!"
Making donations to support local food bank efforts. Remember, Tuesday is "Giving Tuesday." I just thought I'd get ahead of the curve.

Speaking of donations, remember that in 2020 under the CARES act you can claim cash donations to 'existing charities' up to $300 even if you take the standard deduction rather than itemize.

"New tax incentives for charitable giving in 2020 came in March with passage of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act. The law gives donors who plan to take the standard deduction the option to claim an above-the-line deduction of up to $300 for cash contributions to operating charities. The CARES Act also gives donors who will itemize deductions an option to elect a 100% of AGI deduction limit for cash donations, and deduction amounts above this limit may be carried over for up to five years.2 With both options, the cash donations must be made directly to operating charities and cannot go to donor-advised funds, supporting organizations, or private foundations." [www.schwabcharitable.org]

Edited to add - today I am making a preliminary run at my 2020 taxes because TurboTax has arrived. Not all schedules and forms are available yet, but enough to give me a good idea of adjustments I need to make by year end to be as tax efficient as possible.

Flash,
Many thanks for this reminder. I now remember reading about this way back when the CARES ACT was new, but it was completely off my radar until your post ! I will need to go back through some 2020 records to find additional deductions. I support both public radio and TV stations locally, as well as a women's shelter so I have some tax savings for sure.

I had to work today and every Saturday until Christmas. After work I got my nails done. The last time was in August!

Wowza. The early job was normal for a Sunday. I have time for everything on my list, including starting a good book and trying a new-to-me workout. Suh-weet!

I went down to take my bike to the store but it wasn't where I left it. I came upstairs and wrote a note that I wanted the person that took my bike to return it and I'm going to the Police. I looked outside and there it was!!! I rode it to Aldi's to return the chicken thighs that gave me food poisoning. I'll never buy chicken @ Aldi. I got greeting cards @ $ Tree ????. smiling smiley

I was chosen for an interview on Thanksgiving. It lasted 45 minutes and I got a $100 Amazon gift card today. Today, we will put up our Christmas tree. School starts tomorrow on Google Meets after a good holiday week.
Packing up the suitcase for a flight home tomorrow :-(

Sleep late! Woot! Mind you, in my world this this does mean getting up at 4 AM for a long day. But still...

I am liking my credit card management practices. I consolidated two credit cards last month with a signature loan. One card I closed and the other I use for MSing.

The reimbursements pay the credit card balance. Some of the shops pay in 2 weeks and others pay the following month. Perfect.

All MS fees go to the signature loan. According to their records, I am current through March.

I got some succulent plants in the mail. One plant was missing. It was a wrapped clay pot filled with dirt and no plant.

Work is crazy (and I emphasize crazy) busy due to peak.

@Shop-et-al You sound like my mum. She wakes up super early and says "I don't know what happened but I woke up late today." I always know the answer but I still ask her "what time?" Oh dear! I looked at the clock and it was 4:30...Really mum!!
grinning smiley In a perfect world, getting up at midnight is the right time to be ready to start the early job on time in order to finish on time (as per contract). But it is what it is, and usually supplies for the early job arrive several hours later than that. But I always want to be ready to be on time.

Today I "should" be sleeping in, but I need to work with my back for awhile before another back-intensive day.

*eta* the back-intensive labor never materialized. Instead, it was determined that the particular gig should be left to staff members, who can complete the otherwise easy (for everyone except my back, haha) tasks as time permits in the office. I was not surprised. I was pleased. I don't know what this means for payday. I know that it means less hassle for an office that is stretched to the limit because of how Covid-19 measures have changed their work days.
