What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

Shopped for the last of school supplies like backpack and new shoes. Apart from that, decluttering, purging, and donating stuff on nextdoor app. My in laws are visiting my husband's brother's family in October since they had a new baby in Jan but couldn't come due to COVID. I am taking that opportunity to fly home in November for Thanksgiving. That way I won't have to divide my time between my parents and in-laws since they would be in US. I am devious that waysmiling smiley Will spend two weeks at home and that will involve a leave of absence for my daughter for about a week. But, I think it will be worth it!!

Chair day. Phone is dead. Can get another one after chair has arrived. Last night's car camping was the best! Space, moon & sunset, critters, and quiet.

A few quick errands, then call Verizon for a code to transfer my cell phone over to Consumer Cellular. Then, get on line with CC (super customer service) for assistance with substituting CC sim card for the present one, and
then tweeking things on the new service.
ETA: Oooops. The sim card did not get delivered so all this fun will be delayed at least one day.
Heat, humidity and air quality remain dismal.

Lovely day! Hoping for a decent report about my legs/feet. Some parts are well; others are still straggling. We should know why and correct that. In less yucky news, I love my spacious new chair. I feel relaxed when I am in it. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.......... smiling smiley

My brother in law and sis in law are waiting for my in laws to arrive in October. They will be staying for 4 months since they need all the help with their 2 kids, including a brand new baby. Sis in law has always been somewhat of a packrat. They have accumulated so much stuff that they are now renting a public storage for a hefty monthly fee. I went to Boston years ago after the birth of their first baby and it was a nightmare. Looked no less than a departmental store. Now, they are looking to buy a bigger house and I am sure, it would soon be packed too. My husband jokes that they both will be one day on Hoarders and we will show up as the supporting family saying, "we had no idea it was this bad!" Well, I exaggerate..they are not the typical hoarders on TV but somewhere in the middle.
Spending waaaay too much time online and phone trying to get Verizon to cancel my remaining phone service now that my main number has been transferred to Consumer Cellular. That transfer was also very frustrating, with Verizon blocking me at every turn. Then, I called CC customer service who immediately got a Verizon rep on the line who quickly walked me through the simple process. Without CC's excellent customer service I would have been cursing Verizon and tearing my hair out. Consumer Cellular service agents appear to have every resource one might need right at their fingertips. After the transfer of my main cell phone, the number of bars showing up in my living room went from 1 to 3, immediately. All gone poor connections and static!

Got my husband an early birthday present--a new cell phone. HOWEVER..... since he has never managed to catch on to the use of a smart phone, his phone has been, and probably always will be, a flip phone. His old flip phone was probably 4-5 years old, and the bevel at the top had broken, so that the top half was literally hanging by a thread! So anyway, I got him an unlocked ZTE 4G LTE flip phone, and it arrived Sunday. I set it up for him, and simply transferred the SIM card from the old to the new phone, and voila!! He's up and running. He has his service with Walmart Family Mobile and is happy with that, so that didn't change. Oh, his actual birthday is on August 21, and he will be 81 years young!!!!!

@guysmom..my dad is 66 and he had a hard time learning to navigate a smartphone. Mum was on his case for months and he finally learned to text. He would take out his little diary to call someone when mum was not looking. He had a hard time screening contacts. That was hilarious. Mum has become a very tech savvy person. She is channelizing her inner whats app Martha Stewart as we sisters joke. Each day, a new Good Morning message glittering with jewels and sparkles in all glory!!

Happy Birthday to your hubby in advance. I hope he likes his new phone!
There is nothing like a kindergarten class on the first day of school. I haven't been this tired in a looooonggggg time!
Congratulations on your new chair! Have your husband modify the adjustments so the chair is fit to your body. This should be the lumbar support, arm rest, pan, back rest and height.

I rode my bike to the library, got a book and then to store. I found fresh cut sweet potato fries to put in the oven with chicken wings. It's much cooler than it was a few days ago.
I try not to sub in kindergarten until October lol

Before work, I did an upper body work out and put a Mississippi Pot Roast in the slow cooker. At lunch, I went to the post office. It was empty, so I didn't have to use the janky kiosk. I made it back home with 9 minutes to spare.

I'm trying to figure out where to put the accent wall in my bedroom.

So far, so good. This is how I know that I know that I am on the mend: I Have completed 40 minutes of walking and have at least ten more minutes later. Absolutely must do the backwards and sideways walking, you know. These are good for all kinds of reasons! That takes at least five minutes, and there are more reasons to walk around the place while finishing tasks. All is well.

Went to Big Lots and got some new mats for our smaller bathroom. Then went to two thrift stores and got several clothing items. While at one of the thrifts, which was at Goodwill, they have this thing in my area that on Thursdays, there are clothing items with a RED tag/string that are discounted to ONE DOLLAR, along with some items in housewares, electronics, etc. So at THAT thrift store I got 3 clothing items for a buck each!! And then......they had a plain and simple Sony DVD player that has a few scratches on it. But they have a plug strip to test everything on, so I tested it, and it worked fine! There was a red price sticker on it for $1.99. So I brought all my items to the register, and was only charged A BUCK for the Sony DVD player!! As long as the sticker was red, I got it for a dollar. Now, my old DVD had died some time back, so I took this home, cleaned it up, hooked it up to my TV, and programmed my 2 remotes to recognize the DVD player, and voila!! I'm in business! The info label on the DVD player says it was made in 2010, so it's definitely got a few years on it, but it works just fine! And for a buck!!
Oh, and after that, I went and had my tires rotated and balanced. Good day.

Arrived home from California VERY early on Wednesday morning (thanks to a massive flight delay more than five hours late). I spent all of yesterday in a fog, but finally feel like I'm back on Central time.

Finally found a use for the twelve pound bag of pinto beans that was intended for several different recipes. I need them now as foot props. I filled different sized freezer bags with the beans and sealed them. They have a little "give" and I can push, pull, and otherwise arrange them easily. The best? Stack the smaller on the larger and imitate the 15 to 30 degree elevation that many commercial products have for under-desk or anytime use. Eventually, I will buy an actual one to use with one chair. For now, the beans work well. This is not close to the thousands of dollars of home medical supplies that I figured out how to replace. This is just the latest, silly thing that postpones an ~ thirty to ninety dollar necessary purchase.

Great idea! And the best part is that because the beans aren't perishable you can leave them unfrozen for as long as necessary.

Went grocery shopping early and took a long walk since it is gorgeous out. Trying to get some random paperwork done so I am free to go out again and “play” Don’t want to waste this beautiful weather by being indoors. Was such a couch potato last week.
Beautiful weather here too....low humidity and mid 80's. Today is washing 2 loads of clothes and cleaning house....usual Saturday stuff.
@HonnyBrown..way to go!! I am just grateful my dad knows how to text now on his smartphone. Meanwhile, my mom is putting my daughter's pic in a glittery cake, rainbow, and even inserting her name in audio songs from the 60's.
During Prime Days, I bought a Halo (fitness tracker) for super cheap. It wouldn't sync so I returned it. I put it in a box and set it outside my front door. UPS did the rest. I got the replacement today and it works perfectly.

Hubby bought me a string bag backpack. It must have been designed for a male, because it doesn't fit well on my back. I shall return it and look for something that doesn't have an obnoxious brand logo.

Excellent day here. We will finish cleaning four rooms and they can go back on their weekly schedule. This is good because it is time to sort stuff again. It takes such a long time to catch up after being unable to do anything for months. The largest setback was a strong reaction to the medication-- not due to the condition itself. But that hurdle is behind, the finish line is ahead, and all is well.
