Applebee's/IHop closing over 100 stores

Applebee's, IHop's parent company is closing over 100 stores country wide. They have started closing and it looks like they will be out of business soon.

What makes you think they will be out of business soon? Applebees has over 2000 stores and they are continuing to open new ones. They are closing some under producing ones. As usual the news over sensationalizes this. Closing only 5% of their locations and I believe the Ihop number is even less percentage wise.
Yeah, I think like 90 Applebee's and 10 IHOPs. And they are continuing to open new stores at the same time!
Applebee's closed many stores years ago in my town and are continuing, and according to an article I read it didn't sound good. I know of none here opening. IHop is always busy, I'm mainly talking about Applebee's.

Well Applebee's food sucks. IHOP has great pancakes and the stuffed French toast and crepes are pretty good, too.

Both are opening stores internationally.

Occasionally IHOP gets shopped, and if my husband is out of town, it makes for a meal that I don't have to cook for myself or do dishes because the reimbursement covers everything perfectly for one person. It's less than four miles from my house, and, the shops are sometimes bonused. I have never paid for an IHOP meal out of pocket, though.
I'm not a huge fan of Applebee's food but I would be disappointed if IHOP were to close.

Yep, Applebee's food is not the best; their service is iffy depending on the location. The last time I dined at an IHOP was a solid 30 yrs. ago, the pancakes were soggy, heavy and the service was horrible.

Wouldn't shop either even if I was offered a fee, reimbursement plus a bonus.

The weird thing is, chains are so unpredictable from location to location. The Applebee's closest to my house is always packed and the food is terrible. There is another Applebees in a small city about 20 miles from here where the same dishes are not that bad. The IHOP by my house is good, the one in another city about 15 miles from here is mediocre. I'd say the same about most chains, Chipotle is one that comes to mind. Maybe that is why they get shopped.
