MoviePass' New Unlimited Movies in Theaters Deal Sounds Amazing—But There's a Catch

[gizmodo.com]

Today, Lowe announced that MoviePass will allow subscribers to see one showing a day of a film at any theater that accepts debit card payment for just $9.95 a month. The only restrictions that have been announced so far are that 3D and Imax films are off limits.

I saw this on a Lifehacker or FatWallet post earlier and looked at it. I never go to the movie, but I might go once or twice a month if I had this.

$9.95 sounds like a great deal. The problem is that there hasn't been any worthwhile films playing recently. I had to skip the past three Regal shops because of the lack of quality movies. Pretty solid deal nonetheless.

I saw Dunkirk, Detroit and The Dark Tower all this month and enjoyed all three. I also caught a free advance screening of 'A Hitman's Bodyguard.'
I forgot to mention, I received an email from AMC.

I've been thinking about it. This will allow me to drop all movie theater shopping now, if I go this route! Well-worth the $9.95 for me.

Looks like eyelove loves movies that begin w/ D.

I saw dunkirk. want to see detriot. heard really bad reviews of tdt. hollywood almost always screws up stephen king novels. in past 2 or 3 months i saw wonder woman & baby driver. really enjoyed both & im not a comic book fan. one was a shop, two movies were dates.
I have not been able to find out if any theaters near me are in this program. I've visited moviepass.com and it has been useless. I would love to sign up for this deal if I knew there was a theater near me.
I saw The Dark Tower a couple of days ago and it was disappointing. I'm not a Stephen King or horror / fear inducing story fan but I loved the Gunslinger / Dark Tower books. It was more a semi-coming of age story for kids. Bummer. I'm absolutely buying that pass, no more counting folks, trying to read the creepy manager's tag or having to buy a medium or large anything.
