With the exception of Five Guys, they seem to be regional. Has anyone had a burger from all 5? I've only had two, Five Guys and Shake Shack. Shake Shack wins.
I've had all five and they aren't my favorites. Of the 5, Shake Shack is #1 for me. Whataburger (also regional) beats them all. Most times, local burger joints beat these chains.
I have had Habit burger only, and my fav from a shop is either Red Robin, BJ's, or Black Angus all three are shopped. My alltime fav is an Independent "Rustic Burger", using the best meat, making their own buns, the best, but not shopped. We don't have a Shake Shack, but I've eaten at the one in Santa Monica and liked it.

Whataburger is just gross to me, lol. Obviously people have different tastes and obviously chains of any type (pizza, burger, steak, etc) rarely compare favorably to a good local. On my next trip I'll be trying Shake Shack, Habit, and Tommy's. I also recently had a Wayback and it was pretty darn good. My favorites are:

In n Out
Elevation
Wayback
Five Guys
Smashburger

I do now and then Tommys, but dislike their chili which goes on all their burgers unless you order without.
In n out ranks a 7 for me, but I do love the company and enjoy having it. listed my 10's above, for me, depends on the quality of meat...all about the meat.

Ewwww. Perhaps I won't visit Tommy's. I love chili, I love burgers, I don't want chili on my burger.

I can't stand Whataburger either.

I agree In n Out is the best
Smashburger is a close 2nd.
Chili's
McDonalds Pico Guacomole Burger
5 Guys

Well if I was rating In n Out, they would have been at the top for me. Unfortunately, they are not out east here. I have to go whenever I head west. I'll have to try Smashburger. They just opened one near me.

Hold off for a Smashburger mystery shop so you don't waste any money. I was really looking forward to Smashburger. I heard about it when it was shopped by the previous MSC. When it moved to its new MSC, the report was much shorter and I grabbed one. What a disappointment! Easy report, but I won't take another one. I didn't like Smashburger enough to eat it even if it is reimbursed.
Don't know if you are aware that In n Out has a bunch of locations in Texas now.

And see I loved it. In fact now I wish I knew what MSC shopped it (no I'm not asking).

In and Out
Five Guys
Smashburger
Bob's Big Boy (blast from the past but there are still a few around)
McDonalds (just kidding)
Tommy's ( my hubby's fave but he would stink after eating those burgers.
Hate 5 Guys, both for burgers and fries (dry meat, limp fries); love Shake Shack for both burger and fries. The rest are not in my area.

Ok so I had a Habit Burger for lunch today and I gotta say it was realllyyyyyy good. Probably better than Elevation.

I just ate a 5 Guys because they paid me $24 on top of the $12 reimbursement. Burger was good, fries sucked as usual.
Love my Whataburger, but I have never tried or seen a couple of those listed. There is a local burger place that is the best, all fresh all the time.
On the list I've only had 5 Guys and Freddy's; Freddy's barely beats out 5 Guys for the burger but 5 Guys fries are much better.

I bought a Groupon for Johnny Rockets and the burger was not good. They placed a huge amount of some sort of seasoning on it which is the only thing that saved it. One burger, cheesy-bacon fries and a chocolate shake, for one person, $19.45. The fries were so-so and the shake was decent.
The only time I ever liked Whataburger was back in the 80s when I lived in Florida...at 4 a.m., and it wasn't the burgers, it was the breakfast taquitos. I had the munchies and it was right around the corner from my house.

What are the munchies? And why would you have them?

Six is the best. Did you throw that in to be sure we weren't just skimming posts?
