Do you wear shoes inside your house?

I have a question about keeping carpets/floors clean. As of now, we know that some people want us to take off our shoes and not wear them on floors and carpets. Only one other person has acknowledged that some persons medically require their shoes at all times. Purses have been handled, too. There are hooks and wipes in addition to cleats (smaller spaces to wipe so that one may use a portion of one wipe for each purse and thus economize on one's use of wipes). But there are other situations besides ambulatory people that we have not discussed yet. Here are another couple of questions for you. How do you handle your peeps who are in wheelchairs and the ones who use walkers and canes? Is there a protocol for cane tips and walker tips? Is it the same as the one you are using for people who use crutches, as the tips may be similarly constructed?

Oh geez

That's all you can come up with for people who would be inconvenienced, embarrassed or excluded if this trend of exalting floor treatments over people continues????? (this is screeched like Penny in high dudgeon)

Griff, you ever get tired of throwing a ball to a dog that only knows one trick? Fetch and retrieve, fetch and retrieve, it gets pretty boring. I think I might buy a Frisbee, maybe that would be more entertaining. For the dog.

I am clean with all of my food preps, I wash steak, chicken, fish. I am careful with cooking utensils and veggies and fruit. I wear shoes in my house, I am a nurse and have learned many things. The more germs you have in your house throughout your life the less allergies you have. Over cleaning is not good either. I am a clean person have had very few colds or sicknesses. Too much of the anti bacterial washes are not good.
Edit: Irene I know exactly what you take off first, over shoulder bolder holder, remember that saying?

I'm laughing out loud at how much mileage this thread got...who knew?? Boy, this forum can make a mountain out of a molehill,, but isn't it fun!!!!! Shopper8, agreed, ADD cleanliness is not good...look at me healthy as all get out with a purse full of germs, never cleaned...smiling smiley Everything in moderation, words to live by.

Live consciously....
JASFlAMT, I lived my early years on Yokota. The only reason I wear shoes in the house now is because after breaking my left foot multiple times; barefoot hurts. I was raised to run barefoot.

My brother's wife is originally from S. Korea and no one is allowed to wear shoes in their house. I think it's a great idea. I didn't own my home 3 days before some guy came in with his muddy boots and ruined my carpeting. And magically it was not covered under the warranty.

When I lived in Japan and went home on the weekends with the maid, she made me wash my feet before I entered her home. Never thought much about it. It was the rule. Plus, bare feet hanging down the brazier (?) was the best thing ever!

Live your life in such a way that when your feet hit the floor in the morning; the devil shudders...And yells OH #%*+! SHE'S AWAKE!

No shoes, no pants. I live where is it warm all the time. I keep flip flops handy for mailbox trips.

I am somewhat like that. In the Summer when it is warm I'll sometimes wear just underpants and nothing more. TMI - I know. Sorry about that. I just love the feel of my feet on the carpet and the great feel of the breeze hitting what is almost a naked body. No shoes for me!
My sister was laid off her job. The company invited representatives from the local employment office to do resume writing workshops. The main instructor advised everyone to get up at their regular time each day, get dressed as though they were going to work, AND TO WEAR THEIR SHOES DURING THE DAY. She said wearing shoes keeps people more productive and less likely to recline during the day. The lady might have had a point. I won't lay down on my bed, sofa, etc. with my shoes on!
