Irma

I'm trying not to complain, because there are a lot of people that lost a lot in Florida... but boy I would love some A/C and a hot shower. Sigh...

Can you buy a cheap generator at home depot? You can get an instant propane water heater for about $100
On the Big Island, we lit a fire under a wheel barrel once and bathed in it....I don't know if you're in the city or ?

We have a decent generator running. It is enough to power the fridge, some accessories, and a fan. We share it with our neighbors. Can't power the A/C. It is impossible to escape the Florida heat in August and September.

To add insult to injury... I have a nice, cold ice cream shop to do less than a mile away, but they have been closed since the storm. Mmm. that would be refreshing right now.

y take hot shower. cool showers like after day at beach feel refreshing & u still get clean.

saw on news that hotel w/out power was giving away all their ice cream because it was melting. ice cream shop prob has no ice cream if they lost power.
Currently Florida YMCA locations are letting all Floridians use their facilities without a fee or membership. thereis A/C and showers winking smiley
What happened to Sarasota I saw it got beaten as well...was my favorite city, spent a lot of time there.

Live consciously....
i wasnt that impressed w/ sarasota but i love naples. i saw pics of naples & they got slammed. naples fl not naples italy. been to both.
I've been to Naples, it is charming but lived in Sarasota 6 weeks in the summer, and knew it well....good times. I like the Gulf side.

My cousin lives in the Marathon Key. Started his way home today, but could only get as far as Key Largo area. He said it looks like a war zone and it could be 4-6 weeks before residents are allowed back in the lower keys.
