What were you doing 54 years ago today???

I was siting in my 5th grade classroom when the announcement came over the intercom that Kennedy had been shot. We were let out of school after the announcement. Where were you? Do you remember what you were doing?

I was 26 and working at Southern Pacific Railroad in San Francisco on IBM's first computer. I had just met my first boyfriend whom I married a couple years later in Vegas....I was living with my parents and went to a family
Thanksgiving dinner.....funny how one remembers stuff from long ago. I couldn't tell you what I did last week....
I remember when Kennedy was shot, I was at work and they announced it on the loud speaker, shocked and sadness...

54 years ago I was at my previous past life. I don't remember too much but I do recall sinking in water with cement blocks attached to my legs.

I was only four years old, so all I remember is the adults walking around looking sad.

I was 5 and I had morning kindergarten so I was at home. I didn't really understand what was going on but I do remember the great sadness for my parents and brother and sister.

Yes, I remember. It's one of those events/tragedies that you clearly remember where your were and what you were doing. I was working for AMF (American Machine and Foundry} as a regional mgr. I had just come back from lunch and was getting ready for the afternoon when the announcement buzzed around. We were at our offices and desks stunned. I can remember an older supervisor getting annoyed that everyone was shocked at the news and not busy at work. He stood up and loudly announced that there was nothing we could do and to get back to work (as he was doing). of course no one paid much attention to him and not much got done for the rest of the afternoon.

I also remember where I was when Neil Armstrong walked on the moon, when OJ Simpson was found not guilty and of course 9/11.
I was an undergrad at the Univ of Wisconsin at Madison. That day I was at a table in the entry of the student union building, selling UNICEF greeting cards. That was one of the very few locations on that huge campus that actually had a live TV set, clearly visible to the public. So, I saw the very first TV announcement. Later I was also in front of a TV at the union when Lee Harvey Oswald was assassinated and saw that live.

My parents were only 6-7 years old, so I was no where I guess. I do recall where I was when Reagan was shot (first grade classroom, they brought in the TV and we watched news), the challenger blew up (snowday, was in my grandparents kitchen) and when I heard Princess Diana was in a car crash(bartending), and of course 9/11 (at work, they sent us home...I am not too far from where the flight 93 went down, they closed the main road -- not really sure why--but i had to take a bunch of back roads to get home and the whole time I kept looking up for airplanes because I was worried one would fall from the sky!)
54 years ago -- My grandmother and grandfather were in their second year of marriage and their newborn son, my only uncle, was just born a day earlier. She was still in the hospital enjoying their new baby boy when they received the news. :/

54 years ago, I'm certain that my parents were just entering puberty.

Then again, let me hop into a Delorean while charging up the flux capacitor & double check that.
Ending on a high note....having fun, Paoli's in the financial district after work, meeting for drinks and their great app's and flirting with all the cute Stockbrokers from Charles Schwab, then my boyfriend arrives and we take off to George's Bistro for a great dinner...yes, life was good. Would I go back, only if I knew then what I know now....
but, ignorance is bliss.....

I didn't exist! Far from it.
