Bucket list for 2018...

This thread is for fun, those that wish to hijack it, there will be punishment, lets start.
My bucket list, things I hope to do, wish I could do, will do in 2018:
Take a cruise with my kid, go whale watching, win lottery, remodel my kitchen,
stay in Laguna Beach a week with no reports, read my daughters writings on "Emotional Intelligence and grow",
stay healthy........
Your turn...

Find a reasonably priced small place in the country, get the dreaded back surgery done with good results, work only 5 days a week, spend more time with my children.
Snag one of those high-end resorts shops from underneath SoCalSteve's nose, go on a cruise, visit Antarctica, finish my book.

Spend 7-10 days in August on the coast of Maine; snag great hotel shops between DC and Maine; plan and save for a 2019 trip to Switzerland to ride the Glacier express; hang all of the artwork that has been in storage since I last reorganized my living room and bedroom; make 3 route trips to Manhattan; master the new Talon video app.

Only one definite thing: schedule assignments a few at a time. This one thing generates more time for sleep and personal interests. Should I enroll in an art class? Should I continue to practice on my own?

Seems like cruises are the thing for next year. I want to go on one with my daughter and her family. I have to think some more about what else I want to do next year.

There are 3 kinds of lies. Lies, Damn lies, and statistics.
A cruise is nice because you know exactly what you're spending up front. All your food is paid for (excepting the upgrades for specialty restaurants), the shows and movies are included, the excursions don't have to be expensive, and you only unpack once. They're an overall bargain. Visit cruisecritic.com and spend a few hours over there finding what best fits you.

IMSC should hold their 2019 convention on one of the 3-day cruises out of Los Angeles. It would probably be less expensive for everyone.

Ishop123...great idea I would definitely go....LA. to Cabo is an easy few day cruise and beautiful....the food is excellent, I'm packing as we speak...smiling smiley

Most cruise ships do not have a conference venue where 300 people can sit at tables and take notes easily.... Or where sponsors can set up tables around the perimeter of the conference room to make networking simple. Or 3-4 smaller rooms where workshops can be held simultaneously, with audio/video equipment. And the ones that do, are not running bargain cruises. They are running expensive, history or art or similar themed educational conferences.

We've been on Princess, Celebrity, and RCCL when they were running conferences for various groups. Not sure what the cost is, but when you figure that airfare to LA or Miami is typically cheaper than other places, or that attendees would not have to pay for a hotel room or food, it may indeed end up comparable (or even less expensive) than flying to Atlanta, booking a room and car, and paying for meals. Or not. I don't actually know the cost. I was told by a conference organizer that when there is a guaranteed number of rooms, there was no additional charge for the main room. It was just a thought.

Carnaval Lines to Cabo has the least expensive cruises, and always offering great deals. ..they have cooking cruises with classrooms and set up whatever you need...when getting all meals included, you save quite a bit.
I'd be surprised if Carnaval Lines couldn't set you up for about 400.00 for a three day cruise, includes everything.,maybe less if you'll take an inside room.

ishop,
the problem is a room to seat 300 people with tables . The show rooms are not equipped for this sort of conference as they have theater style seating.

Wales, you're right about the main theaters. However, some of the ships have additional conference rooms that are basically large blank auditoriums. I suppose it depends upon the ship. I've not been on the planning side of these, so don't know the particulars.

A nice, warm cruise sounds wonderful right now. Irene, if you can find out who shops Carnival, I'd be happy to split the room with you :-D.
(RCCL, Celebrity, Crystal, Cunard, Princess are shopped - not sure about the others.)

Without naming specific cruise lines, I'd love to know what MSC's offer cruise shops.

Princess headquarters are in my town, but I've never shopped a cruise, have heard they are difficult and you don't have time to enjoy. Perhaps SteveSoCa will join in, I know he has done many and would have insight.....
I do know there are conference rooms in some, but haven't done a research on it. Taking a vote at some point, if everyone agrees. Shop123, are you in CA??

I recuse myself from a vote. If I go to sea, it should be on a private yacht. However, I like the idea of a purposed cruise for mystery shoppers. I have received notices for all kinds of themed and/or educational cruises, some of which might have counted toward some professionals' mandatory continuing education credits. So, why not a cruise for mystery shopper training?

Meanwhile, art class is off the menu. The only available, which was not quite what I wanted, was scheduled for my best day for other things. The new plan is to practice by myself and enjoy the process.

Paint several pieces and master chalk painting and distressing. Meet the Dalai Llama Build a beach house. Visit Macchu Picchu. (yes the last two are unlikely but you never know.)

Sorry for the Hi-jack. I love cruises, but I'm fully aware they aren't everyone's cup of tea.
