Favorite Tipple

I recently discovered wine in a box. I bought two boxes, a malbec and a chardonnay. The malbec was great. The chardonnay needs some help. I'm going to drink it anyway.

@HonnyBrown I believe those wine boxes keep wine in good condition for a much longer time than the traditional bottles. I use a Vacu Vin device when I store opened bottles but they aren’t perfect and the taste of the wine soon deteriorates.

It has had some success at international spirit ratings competitions, winning a gold medal at the 2006 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.[1]

Sounds like a good drink but I don't trust the alcohol awards. I am involved in a big wine competition as a volunteer and have researched the subject.

Basically, the 'experts' are only good with the first few tastings. And often the experts are assessing categories of drink they aren't particularly familiar with.

Drink companies need these awards to get their products distributed.

Pro-tip: At the wine competitions the suppliers need to provide 6 bottles of wine for each product entered into the competition. And only one is usually opened and sampled. So at the end of the competition they have truck loads of wine left over.

Guess what? The experts and volunteers take home a car load of wine each. I never buy wine and have so much I give it away to neighbors and friends.
I'm sorry, Irene_L.A., I was trying to help peeps by showing that this person has now started a thread on what liquor peeps drink when this person had just, moments ago, made fun of peeps for their liquor comments in other threads. However, it seems that peeps here don't care about that so I'm one to be done.
Your fine, I know what you were saying, and agree..we know what he was up too...too bad the mods don't get it.

I'm done as well......

@Irene_L.A. I publicly apologize for the ill-judged comment regarding drinking.

How long do you keep your open wines? Mine disappear after a few days.
